Thus far, the announcements have been about 1 year apart give or take a few months. Just have to be patient, assuming that you're talking about the OTS bid for us lowly non-prior experience folk.

Over the last two years prior experience hiring has started in jan and lasted till around july. OTS has started in the fall around sep or oct and lasted for about 3 months. OTS process takes awhile so start now. They dont post job openings on the FAA website, so you'll have to go to usajobs.gov search for "air traffic control specialist."

I was actually looking for when recruit school would start for trainees, if at all because of the lawsuit.

What's recruit school? Are you asking about hiring within the U.S.?

If so, the new hire academy starts classes every couple weeks. The people starting in them were generally in the hiring process 1-2 years ago.

I've heard the next announcement will be in September 2016 according to this guy I know who will be heading to OKC next month. He was selected during the previous bid and apparently the H.R. rep at the FAA gave him this info.

For people who have been through the process, what percentage of people are typically hired from each bid? And how long from the close date of the announcement before they send you through psych/medical if you get past the Bio Q and AT-SAT?

I'm guessing the academy dates for this upcoming bid won't be until around December 2017/January 2018 which is a real drag. I can't believe after all these years they still haven't figured out a way to speed up the hiring process.

That is super fast compared to just a few years ago where people would have their TOL's for 3-4 years before an academy date.

Keep an eye on stuckmic.com. Rumor is the FAA will take apps this Fall for class dates in 2017. The application is usually open for two weeks.

I applied in Feb 2014, Reported to Academy in Nov of that year, and my facility in March 2015.

The length of every step is just a crapshoot. From what Ive heard from friends going through the process, theres a huge holdup at the medical level. Like people waiting months to hear anything about their medical appointments. I did my medical on a Tuesday and got the call for a class date 2 days later, so its all luck.

How does the new geo-pref selection work and how many choices did you get in your region?

I am heading to OKC next week for class. I applied back in March of 2015 and heard I got through the BioQ in April. I did my AT-SAT in June and had my TOL by August if I remember correctly. The biggest hangup after that is indeed the medical as @nabbyfan mentioned. It took a couple months to even get a call back to schedule it. All I can say is patience patience patience. I haven't heard when the next round of OTS bids are going to take place, but I know that people with 2017 dates are in the pipeline now waiting to start their pre employment paperwork. If any of you are waiting for your FOL, I would highly recommend calling your HR person somewhat persistently after you have your medical.

When I went through, it was done by region, so I knew I was going to one of 6 Centers. The list I was offered was one facility, with the option of volunteering for Guam, Anchorage, or Puerto Rico. I took the domestic option I was presented.

Now, there's no regions. The list they offer you can be anywhere from Seattle to Miami, and keep in mind you're getting maybe a weeks tops notice. The list isn't finalized until your class is done eval'ing, they take options off if people fail out.

Training is going well so far, almost done with my D sides and hoping to get into R side school this summer.

Study hard at the academy and you'll be fine, don't let all the partiers and idiots that don't realize the opportunity they have lead you astray.
