Was that @derg’s jumpseat guy?
I remember when that happened I was at an ALPA national meeting of some sort and the EVP from Velo’s airline was there.Did he write a letter to your chief pilot?
The memories are fuzzy, but IIRC...Was that @derg’s jumpseat guy?
Wow, seriously?!The memories are fuzzy, but IIRC...
Velocopide was a total prick here on JC and eventually got himself banned. Not long after, a UAL pilot here made a post about "beating a hurricane out of south Texas". Velocopide who was a Alaska pilot somehow got the UAL pilot in trouble. The UAL pilot managed to keep his job, but only just.
Seriously. And said UA pilot was not only an asset to JC but a damn stand up guy who was flying F-14s at Mirimar during the filming of Top Gun and loved mentoring the new guys like myself at the time. Totally undeserving of the fallout from that incident and I miss his presence both here and at NJC.
I tried to learn early to "find the frequency" of the chat. The problem is so much gets lost when youre not able to hear the other persons tone and inflection. Although i always want everything to be a joke or light hearted and even politics that way (because thats what my real political discussions are) and everything is so effing serious to people these days.I remember saying to someone at a NJC "I wonder what that Velo guy is like in person?"
he said "you ought to know, you just spent the last 10 minutes talking to him at the bar."
No, he was nice.dude, thats all we get? was there a bromance hug, or a broke back mountain head nod?
When he flies he gives the flight crew business cards and explains he’s retired from Alaska? No, he was nice.
Some passenger gave a card to give to “the captain” and she walked up, said some passenger handed me a card, said he’s a retired Alaska pilot and to give you this.
I saw the name and was like “Whaaaaa?”
I walked back, found him and said hello. He had no idea that I was flying. Velocipede, in person, is actually pretty chill if not shy. Online, well, that’s another story.
