Did he write a letter to your chief pilot?
I remember when that happened I was at an ALPA national meeting of some sort and the EVP from Velo’s airline was there.

Me: “Hey John, can I talk to you real quick about something that [insert Velo’s real name here] did?”

John: (sighing loudly and literally face palming) “For ^&*%’s sake, what’d he do this time?”

:bounce:

Was that @derg’s jumpseat guy?
The memories are fuzzy, but IIRC...

Velocopide was a total prick here on JC and eventually got himself banned. Not long after, a UAL pilot here made a post about "beating a hurricane out of south Texas". Velocopide who was a Alaska pilot somehow got the UAL pilot in trouble. The UAL pilot managed to keep his job, but only just.

The Kickin' Chicken!
I remember saying to someone at a NJC "I wonder what that Velo guy is like in person?"
he said "you ought to know, you just spent the last 10 minutes talking to him at the bar."
I tried to learn early to "find the frequency" of the chat. The problem is so much gets lost when youre not able to hear the other persons tone and inflection. Although i always want everything to be a joke or light hearted and even politics that way (because thats what my real political discussions are) and everything is so effing serious to people these days.

My dad and i agree on a lot and thats where i usually have the super serious conversations. Even with this trump thing, and i admit on the buffet of stupid that is trump Im able to find two or three issues i agree on that are important, but i can keep that level of complexity and still say "jesus dad what if i did that? That aint what you taught me!" And he gets that, that base level importance that these shmuck politicians gotta be humans too.

So theres different audiences for any converstion, politics or union crap (velos forté), online discussions, friend discussions, family discussions and they arent all in the same tone or inflection for most of us.

None of this will matter when we all get 3-d avatars we walk around in.

In his latest video Jerry does another one of his "superior, crowd pleasing steep turns to runway 33 at Oakland.............wow amazing!! NOT
Something I've noticed that I haven't seen addressed is how flat this guy lands. He not only drives the airplane down the glide slope, but drives it onto the ground. Greezer LOL

dude, thats all we get? was there a bromance hug, or a broke back mountain head nod?
No, he was nice.

Some passenger gave a card to give to “the captain” and she walked up, said some passenger handed me a card, said he’s a retired Alaska pilot and to give you this.

I saw the name and was like “Whaaaaa?”

I walked back, found him and said hello. He had no idea that I was flying. Velocipede, in person, is actually pretty chill if not shy. Online, well, that’s another story.

I think the whole letter writing thing negates any sort of “he’s actually nice in person”.

When he flies he gives the flight crew business cards and explains he’s retired from Alaska?
