Holy moly, just looked it up. How do they even keep butts in the seat at those rates when everyone else is hiring???

Mesa offers (or at least used to) no interview class dates. Just call them, tell that that you meet ATP (or RATP) minimums and they give you a class date.

Mesa gets lots of washouts from other regionals, flawed backrgound's (multiple DWI's, other felonies), or other people that can't get hired elsewhere. It is the "halfway house" of the airline world.

If this is so well known how do they continue to get flying from mainline partners? I'm assuming it has to do with pricing/money. Or is regional feed too hard to come by to be picky nowadays?

I heard of a guy going there because he didn't feel like going through an actual interview somewhere else (they hire over the phone after some 20 min phone thing)....I think he had a rich dad or something.

It's like the dudes who pick up hookers in bad parts of town.

    "I know, but $5 is $5."

Well ASA's entire business model over the last decade was based on 'Mesa doing the honorable thing and dying,' (direct quote from our SCP) and, well, look how that has gone.

Wait, they don't pay for KCM? What kind of sorcery is this? Can the pilots pay for it themselves?

I also heard they don't get their iPad's fully paid for, just $500 towards them. What a hole.

None of what is said above surprises me at all. We are talking about a company who hires over the phone and doesn't even pay to meet who they're hiring....

Apparently their referral bonus is $10,000. Find a few suckers every year and you can make more from bonuses than flying.

During new hire training at my current regional, we had a guy jumpseat on Mesa over the weekend a couple of times to visit home. He said the CA pushed hard to recruit him every time.

The CA was probably just hungry and NEEDED the $10K giving what Mesa pays...

I'm curious to how you can try to recruit another 121 pilot to come to Mesa? Like everyone else doesn't know about your company?

I agree he probably needed the referral bonus to feed his family. It's a shame.

Just become an instructor and take 1 year to build your time. These are scams. You're putting your QOL in the dump for multiple years. Plus, you're in the king land of instructing. You could get the best QOL, money, and hours out there.

Plus you can never predict the future and if something happens you can fall back onto a CFI certificate, at least. It's not worth signing a contract to be stuck at Mesa. The money you'll lose and the QOL you'll lose isn't worth it.

Lol... the more things change the more things stay the same....

A lot of routes flown by Southern airways express were in house Mesa routes flown by Air Midwest in the late 90's early 2000s. Now it appears Mesa has outsourced them to another carrier...

(Yes. I know it's just another upstart EAS carrier taking over after colgan and mesa got out of the EAS business)

Actually I think the pilots that do this program coming from southern probably have to take a pay cut to "flow" to mesa and go from part 135 single pilot pic to flying 121 sic at mesa. Any pilot at southern would probably do better staying at southern flying 135 pic and getting on directly with a LCC as the requirements for 121 sic is not much more then 135 pic

Quiet here.. Enough regionals hiring but Mesa bases works better for me.

With the new contract the pay looks acceptable.

Time to jump in for a year?

(Need jet time before going overseas)
