I'm not stocking up on supplies - we're packing up and heading north if this thing continues on its path.

Maybe it's because the city I live in is in the middle of nowhere, but doesn't everyone have like 50 gallons of water and 2 weeks of food lying around in case something like this happens?

Bottle water and food has expiration dates. Most people start stocking up when they start hearing that a hurricane may be coming. Most wait until the very last minute.

My food expires in 20 years. I restock the water as needed.

I'm planning to stock up on canned goods I have a weeks worth of water. In all likelihood, I'll be leaving a day or 2 early for work though. It's estimated to be here on the 11th and I have to be at work on the 12th. So I'll likely just shutter up and leave.

We buy a couple gallons of water and bleach every so often. Water expires?? Crap, gotta go down in the basement and check. We also have several cases of ramen, if the zombies come, we'll have the highest blood pressure on the culdasac!
Haven't bought any of the long term food storage items yet. Do you have a recommendation? (It's actually not even thread drift)

I grabbed something cheap off of woot.com. No idea how it tastes, but I imagine I won't care if I ever get to the point of having to break into it.

I eat a lot of mountain house when I'm camping/hunting/fishing and have a couple of them in my first aide/survival kit with the airplane. You can eat them without hot water, but I doubt that's pleasant. I just use a jetboil. They're pretty good and you can buy them in bulk.

Hurricane Irma delivered a punishing blow to the northern Leeward Islands early Wednesday and will pass just north of Puerto Rico. Hurricane warnings are being extended further west into the Bahamas, and Irma is now predicted to reach southeast Florida as a Category 4 hurricane on Sunday.

My mother and sister are in West Palm and are booked on JBU PBI-BDL on Friday at 6pm. It doesn't look like PBI will be experiencing any of the hurricane at that point, but how confident would you feel in the timing of the flight? Would you be concerned of a mass JBU cancellation by Friday evening? Would you recommend they start driving north now?

That's too far out to tell - seriously hurricanes do weird things and the ocean is big with limited available data

The latest information that I have is that PBI will be normal operations until sometime Saturday. JB may see it differently but the airport will be open.

    Same.

Headed to Naples this morning empty to pick up and move to Baltimore.

The empty leg will have at least 15 cases of water that I bought yesterday at Costco. We have 2 other aircraft headed down, one to Daytona and one to West Palm Beach. I believe they too are carrying down supplies.
