Yeah being from the islands will give you a leg up, but there were still plenty of people in the last window from the islands that were not picked up because they didn't have as much experience as some of the other candidates from the mainland had. You could still score an interview, but be told to reapply with more jet and mainland flying experience as many were told. Making the move to the regional world is a smart choice for a Hawaiian airlines pilot career. The application pool is dwindling from the thousands into the hundreds, and a new contract could fix this issue to. Fly as much as you can, and be potentially ready for a call.
