Enjoy the ride while it lasts, save your money, go to grad school, work on a back-up, signed, even though we all know it's inevitable.

I actually think this is MORE inevitable than 65. It’s really just a question of the timing at this point, not if it’ll happen. The development of artificial consciousness is virtually certain within our lifetimes, so the idea of one less pilot in the cockpit in less time than that is hardly a radical idea.
Then in a weird way it’s not a worry. Everyone will be affected, including Doctors and Financial Analysts. Ray Dalio Of Bridgewater Associates is working on an algorithm to automate management.

I think AI and Machine Learning will affect everything, including whatever you go to graduate school for.
Very true. And even on the off chance your occupation isn't affected directly, once enough people are unemployed you'll be affected anyway by the decline in consumer demand.

He's right. You're wrong. AI is coming, and it will have a dramatic impact on our lives. But anyone who believes that politicians, who get their livelihood and their power from the masses, are going to just sit back and allow 50% unemployment, needs to have his head examined.

Get ready for a universal basic income. It's coming.

I have zero hope in politicians, corporations et al solving anything. Our collective heads are in the sand.

The vast majority of the masses these politicians get their power from have a very vindictive attitude toward the poor and unemployed. I really don't see a policy as socialist as universal basic income being politically feasible, especially since society seems to be becoming more and more right-wing by the day. I'd argue that anyone who thinks those who are still employed will be willing to support idle people should have their head examined.

Yeah, you're right, everyone is just going to sit back and allow near universal unemployment.
