Maybe the rabid right wouldn't rule the world if their opposition didn't agree to define everything with the far right's terms and willingly brand themselves with extremely unpopular ideologies like Socialism.
Sanders and his followers are the only clowns I’m aware of who are doing that. Even Nancy Pelosi tries to distance herself from him and AOC.

Every rational brain in the party was scared spitless he would win the nomination.

True to an extent, although the DNC made a lot of concessions to the Sanders camp. He was the only Presidential candidate that had input in the rules for this year's nominating contests, such as for delegate allocation, for example.

The thing is, Sanders and his followers have enough visibility and influence within the Democratic party that they've managed to hang the albatross of Socialism on all Democrats. I think that was a big factor in the major losses the Democrats incurred in the Senate in 2018, for example. It also singed Democrats in 2016 and handed Trump the Presidency- exit polls revealed that most voters felt Trump was much more moderate than Clinton and that Clinton was too far left.

Hopefully that happens, but I'm not holding my breath, especially since all signs are pointing to a massive Republican wave in November so far.

Also I doubt electing someone who has been in Congress since I was in utero and done squat other than rename a pair of post offices is going to do much good, if you're promoting the candidate I gather you are. Nominating him would be gift-wrapping the easiest reelection since 1820 for Trump.

EDIT: I also doubt you'll win many converts by telling people they're voting against their own interests.
People are morons and, sadly, many of the low information voters absolutely need to be told they're voting against their best interests.

People always vote in their best interests. But they don't all have the same interests.
That's patently false. Majority of our electorate is woefully, and willfully, ignorant. When we've been reduced to sound bytes and headlines (many from pure propaganda machines) to formulate "interests" we've got a problem. I have news for you...we're there and have been there for quite some time.

Actually, literally NONE of this is how socialism works. Socialism is state ownership of the means of production. Wealth redistribution is not socialism. Why are we allowing right wing nuts to re-write definitions of words, and then embracing those fake definitions?
Because Fox and Friends. Plus our collective attention span is only sufficient to comprehend single words or short soundbytes and "Socialism" is a word some of us learned in middle school textbooks as equating to "bad." So just simply calling everything they don't like "socialist" or "unconstitutional" is easy and effective.

My favorite excuse is when they say maybe one day they will be that rich, and if so, they wouldn’t want to be taxed as much!

Idiots. The only way that’s going to happen is if you hit the powerball. And you have a better chance of getting struck by lightning on a perfectly sunny day than that EVER happening.

Well the Adolf meme is still more Adolf since Trump is actively attempting or at least paying lip service to us LEAVING other countries alone and letting them kill each other.

Not a great guy, but whoever is ready to pull the chord on the middle east and bring them home works for me.

Also, Biden is a little rapey isnt he? Yikes.

After WWII, one could earn a middle-class living, support a family, and afford the American Dream with a suburban house on a high school degree, retiring to a meaningful pension watching your kids do better than you did.

Today, no such jobs exist, and even trying to maintain that lifestyle requires two incomes, while public schools struggle for funding and a year of college costs 1.5X the annual earnings of your average middle-class person.

Most significantly, wealth ie being concentrated in fewer and fewer hands while corporate CEOs are paid insane multiples of what is paid to those they manage (a recent and uniquely American phenomenon).

What are “we” doing about it? Blaming the Chinese while we shop at Wal-Mart and Amazon, blaming the Japanese (while we buy Toyotas and Honda made here), blaming NATO...how about looking around at and our representation? We can put better people in every two years. We can stop permitting billionaires to spend hundreds of millions buying influence in Washington. Look at your congressperson, where does their $ come from? Why do these people take $ from other states/countries to support positions against their own constituents...and get re-elected and even promoted! Why do we tolerate lying, whether it’s starting an empire from a single loan or being Native American?

This can get better, but only if WE focus on what matters and ACT.

Give him time. Every president discovers in their second term how much easier it is to get stuff done, and how much more presidential they look, when they focus overseas. There is a “rally round the flag” factor, plus our services never let the country down, so if deployed correctly, good news is assured. There is a reason in “1984” the country had been in a constant state of war. This is authoritarianism 1010. These regimes use this tactic often, it enables clampdowns and the stifling of dissent under the guise of self-preservation.

We can be thankful this guy is too stupid to recognize this and too arrogant to listen to anyone who might suggest it to him...truly a unique blend...

Of course, there are other issues besides economic ones. If you talk to Trump supporters you'll usually find support for him is primarily about sticking it to undesirable groups or vague enemies like "SJWs", "political correctness", etc. And while both parties have plenty of supporters in all income brackets the higher ones tend to be more Republican, and higher income people would tend to be less immediately concerned with financial/economic issues. Exit polls bear this out- 2016 exit polls showed that voters who cited the economy as the top issue broke for Clinton; meanwhile Trump dominated among voters who were most concerned about crime, terrorism and illegal immigration as the most important issues. So I still think it may be simplistic to say they're voting against their own interests.

With how bold Trump is now with blatantly profiting from the Presidency, and now with this crisis refusing federal aid to states whose Governor's don't properly fellate him, we should be very concerned with how he'll behave in a second term with no one to hold accountable. I don't know whether his second-term antics would include an invasion but it's certainly possible and could be a good way to avoid a 6-year-itch midterm backlash in 2022- consider that 2002 ended up being a Republican wave year even with a Republican President, largely because of 9/11 and war in the Middle East ramping up. I think one reason the GOP has been more reluctant to start wars under Trump was that Iraq did end up leading to major losses for them in 2006 and '08, which could happen again once the war is no longer popular. Before 2006 Karl Rove boasted that there would be a "permanent Republican majority" but the unpopularity of the Iraq war helped kill that in 2006. I think under Trump the permanent Republican majority is finally here to stay.

I don't think Trump is too stupid to use this strategy either- he was smart enough to get elected, and has been good at directing the media to cover him favorably and to give the most attention to his pet issues (like the "caravan" in 2018). Trump's opponents need to stop underestimating him.

Ya, best vote for the open and proud rapist instead.
Ouch. Ok ok. Maybe I threw a stone there and that was out of line.

Just kinda hoping for a Booty Yang combo punch forgive me.

Biden should maybe come out and at least say, like shaggy, "wasn't me" so I can at least hold my nose.

The news has been fairly quiet about that one.. Yeah, Biden's a rapist. I don't think anyone is surprised by that.
I would be. We'll see if it turns out to be true, but the fact that the news has been quiet about it suggests there's not much evidence. Most of their coverage of Biden has been negative throughout this primary so it's odd that they'd skip another opportunity to vilify him if there's any substance to it.

Democrats are actually supposed to care about things like that.
Supposed to, but clearly not all: then again I guess Sanders is technically an independent:

That's really your perception? I'd have said the media has been talking him up.

And unlike Republicans, Democrats are actually supposed to care about things like that.
Actually, I would hope we ALL care about not empowering rapists? Wouldn’t that be better than “yeah, but he’s OUR rapist?” That seems to be where the majority are now...at least of those that vote.

Can someone run on a “I’m not a rapist” platform and win? Seems a pretty low bar...
