Old but quite interesting. I like how they show you how to bail out before they show you how to fly it.

I was at Farnborough a few years ago after Lockheed had bought up the F-16 program and they had a P-38 flying with the F-16. Go to the video and stop it at 2:28. What a radical image compared to the other machines flying in the early 40s!

A good old friend in TX is a P-38 ace. Flew in the Pacific. He had a chance to go into jets after his tour and turned it down. He said after the -38, anything else was a step down. His affection did not extend to the Allison 1710 engine which he said was lucky if it made 50-75hrs before it had to be changed.
