Wow, that would really bug me if the airplane would not let me bank more than 67 degrees.

You bet!

If Airbus built a fighter, you could probably never achieve takeoff power because it'd be too dangerous to fly!

I guess I understand the Airbus thought process in trying to out-smart the stick actuator...but my worry has more to do with the "what if"s. What if the airplane needs to turn harder than that (a 60* bank turn is a 2G turn...) in an emergency? How does the system work if the airplane gets turned outside those bank angle limits by a wind shear, microburst, or other convective activity?

Besides...Tex Johnston showed that an airliner could be rolled if it was performed properly and the Gs managed correctly (and Lew Wallick and other Boeing test pilots that followed did, too, with other Boeings).

Yeah but the Tex Johnston and Lew Wallick type guys are few and far between. Those days are gone. Your typical airline pilot has no where near that skill level in stick and rudder skills.
