This is a shorter version of the video I've seen. It's a T-38 IP with the callsign, "SATAN" and a Japanese exchange student, flying a local training sortie at Columbus AFB, MS. There was some conversation before where this began that wasn't quite so "animated."

In the T-38, the student sits in the front cockpit, and the instructor in the rear cockpit. There are no temperature controls in the rear cockpit.

It's now shown to all IP's pretty much every year when we discuss "Crew/Cockpit Resource Management" and "communication skills". As an example of what NOT to do.

It didn't sound like the student spoke english as a first language. I flew out an airport for a while that was home to a flight school for chinese students and american flight instructors. I am sure similar conversations happen like that.

It's funny in a broad sense... I guess... I mean I chuckled, who wouldn't?

I think it's generally agreed that this video looks worse for the IP than the student. I would hope that most instructors don't lose self control like that, and I doubt getting abusive helped the situation any.

I think its fair to say that somewhere out there is a gleim fundamentals of instruction book crying its heart out over this video....or possibly spontainously combusted after watching hehe.

I read some of the comments on youtube and it seems like the reason why he was shouting so much is that the cockpit heat in the T-38 is taken from the bleeder valve. The T-38 heater basically bleeds heat of the engine. That can make it extremely hot in the cockpit and it may lead to the pilots passing out.

UPT is a ridiculous amount of extra pressure I have been told.

I wonder how that made it to youtube and who is in deep poo now that it is on there. I can only guess it is the Chinese student.

Hahaha, very funny! I was almost to that point a couple weeks ago. When we first got in the plane, the chief flight instructor tole me to not touch the heat at all, turns out he likes it hot as hell when hes flying.
