Might have been allowable as per the MEL depending on what it was he was working on.

I doubt it, but you'd be surprised how far you can get with speed tape!

Looks like a high friction area. No biggie. He was probably putting the tape there to check for rubbing after flight.

I agree with you on that. Though if it was in the U.S. they would have to call mx to come and do the actual speed taping.

I saw 6 speed tape repairs in BGR. 1 were quite massive. A Mesa CRJ had the entire side of the airplane behind the luggage bin re constructed after an air-start hose coupling filed. It was determined that it was on the Airplane side and not our starter. So this really high pressure line was flailing about ripping into the airplane. loads of fun, even had the fire trucks come over (I think they were bored).

The other five were:

Lav truck backed into an airplane (pinnacle CRJ)

Ground power receptacle pulled out of an airplane (xjt erj)

Wing tip scrape on landing (Mesa CRJ)

Winglet damage after the plane rotated (al la tulsa tornado video) and caught on the jetway (COM CRJ)

Ground power door hinge damage after being left open for a flight. (Comair CRJ)

I love speed tape

Really not that big of a deal.

I am pretty sure this was not in the US either. FAA doesnt have "authorita" (as cartman would say) in India... (pretty sure this was where it was)
