Default runway incursion waiting to happen?

This video taken at the Gibraltar airport isn't the most exciting to watch, but it does illustrate an interesting situation: a major road intersects the runway. I ran across this when we landed in Goa a few days before New Year's Eve. Goa's airport is tiny, and only has a three-plane capacity at the terminal. With late December being a prime time for visiting the wonderful Goan beaches, planes quickly landed where they'd sit on an adjacent strip of tarmac while waiting their turn to dock at the overflowing terminal. Our GoAir flight was no different, and as we waited, I'd watch cars, motorcycles, and even dogs cross the thin strip of runway in between the arrival and departures. Crazy!

I landed my Navy C-9B there once.

In the picture the British-Spanish border is right where the green line is at the lower right-hand corner...

The Spanish are still pissed that it's a British territory, and in order to fly there you cannot depart from a Spanish field, nor can you pass through Spanish airspace on the way in or out. You have a very narrow corridor which you must fly up from the south, and then it a wild 145degree turn to the runway very close in, and the runway is only 5000' long! Kinda sporty in a DC-9! Also you can only land if the winds are within certain parameters because of the "Rock" sitting right there kicking up all sorts of interesting rotors and mini-mountain-waves...

Kev, I know that you're in Moscow right now with Doug, but I have to ask, is there anywhere you haven't flown?

So will that be changing now that you're going to the 777? I've got lots of Australia tips! Macchu Picchu is on my list!

Hard to tell...What kind of Jet was that landing?

I remember that we could not fly directly from Israel to Jordan when I was in the AF. Heard those restrictions are lifted now as well.
