LHD. Should have gone gator. The marines are only on for the ride and you only really see a bunch of them at chow or in the hangar bay. They're usually busy. They're also on and off the ship during deployment, especially now. As soon as you get to the Gulf, they get off in Kuwait and convoy up to Iraq.
I really didn't mind it, besides there are a bunch that are in the MEU ACE(Air Combat Element) and they're the smart ones of the bunch. Great group of guys and drinking buddies! I went over to the George Washington several times in the Gulf and I hated it. Too many people and lots of places to get lost! Actually FLoyd and I almost went on the same cruise!

The picture on the avatar is on the Kearsarge LHD-3. I did a workup on her Dec 97,. I've been on the Inchon after it was converted to an MCM from an LPH in 97, a stint on the Bataan LHD-5 for MV-22 LHD quals. My first crusie was on the USS Saipan LHA-2; Jun98-Dec98 I've done ammo offloads and onloads on the Ike, Roosevelt, JFK, GW, and the Stennis before she did her around the world cruise to San Diego.
