Is this really that far out - - from Prrune

An Egyptian pilot and his co-pilot brawled in front of 130 passengers waiting to take off in Cairo yesterday.
Capt. *al* flew alone to Sharm -el-Sheikh after evicting his co-pilot * * from the aircraft owned by Egyptian firm Midwest. The fight erupted when the co-pilot asked for the flight schedule. The pilot is said to have replied "It’s none of your business". - AFP

So you evict the FO, and fly the route yourself - SINGLE PILOT!!

Seeing how they don't use second officers very often now, I think this scenario is way out there.

Hell man, I ain't got my commercial yet and even I know that.

Sort of screwy scenario... Now, if it was two student pilots and an instructor in the back seat... that would be possible. And no, I'm not speaking for experience here.

Sort of similar (ok, not really) but I read an interview gauge that asked the question: 3 pilot crew. You're the FO. Female FE and male CA. FE is new and slightly slow. CA starts harrasing her to the point she starts to cry. You are at altitude. What do you (the FO) do?

FOshizzle there huh?

I would do nothing except my job as an FO.

Well, I'll have to clarify that a little. It depends on the level of harassment. If she is doing her job and he is harassing her just to harass her, then I might shoot a comment in a humorous, non-threatening way, at first, to "give her a break, she's new" or "take it easy, she's a virgin on this plane."

However, if he's harassing her because she isn't doing her job then I'm not about to play "Captain Save-A-Ho" just because the tears start flowing. I've seen that tactic used many a time when a person just couldn't hack it doing something they are supposedly trained and able to do. If you are that sensitive to people yelling at you for not keeping up then I would suggest she develop a thicker hide or look into a library sciences career. Harsh maybe, but having been in the military I've learned not to take people yelling at me too personal, and if someone is yelling at me more than likely its because I'm not doing my job. Lesson: Do your job and thus don't give anyone reason to harass you.

Hey BobD, you should have started a new "You're the Captain (or FO in this case)" thread.

What part of CRM training says yell at your crew until they cry? He's out of line in that situation. This is an airliner cockpit, not a war.

You are the Captain of a 777 flight from Dallas to London. There are two other pilots on board. You and your first officer are flying for now and the second officer sits in third chair enjoying the scenery--the second officer is Arab and you're first officer--who lost a pilot buddy in the 9-11 crashes--is very prejudice against him--begins harassing him. Here is the big comment that makes the second officer officer snap: "How do you do your wife with her whole damned body covered in ####rags."
The second officer snaps and hits your first officer in the jaw. The first officer reaches back to hit him back but you tell him both to stop since "we are in an airplane and there isn't room to be horsing around."
After getting back to base, you are in you boss's office and he sends them out and asks you, "Now you were there, Captain--what do think should be done?"

A_ Ask that they both be fired or suspended.
B) Ask that the first officer be fired (because he insulted the second offcer's religious coustom) and the second officer be merely suspended (since his religious coustoms were offeneded)
C) Ask that they never be put on a flight again.
D) Have them both suspended
E) Have the second officer fireds (he threw a punch) and the first officer suspended for verbal abuse.

Id hit all of them with can. War is hell!

My gate agent friend told me yesterday that a pilot and gate agent (man vs. woman) got into a fist fight at the gate, her smacking him with a radio, and ended with them rolling on the ground.

So hmm, guess it happens! No, it wasn't an ExpressJet pilot. No, it wasn't me.
