Default Ten Days at White Air

It’s been about a month now so I guess it’s time to give my take on White Air. In September I spent ten days in Chanute and finished my PPL. Before coming I already had about 35 hours and was getting really close to finishing. But for many reasons I just couldn’t get it done. Ten days wasn’t long, but it was enough time for me to realize that White Air is a great place to learn to fly.

First of all, I will say that White Air is not a big fancy school. They don’t have huge, impressive facilities and brand new planes. But they are not shy to tell you this. The thing I appreciated most from them was their no BS policy. They’ll give you the facts straightforward with no fluff. Their planes are in great condition and when there are problems (bound to happen with any plane) they are extremely quick to repair the problem. Also, their facilities are much like your basic FBO. They’ve created dorm style housing which wasn’t bad at all. You get your own room and share a kitchen. There are two bathrooms as well. It’s no 4 seasons but it’s comfortable. Oh ya, there’s a big screen TV and a couple couches too. I thought it was so much fun being able to wake up, take a shower, walk out the front door and hop into the plane. Extremely convenient.

The instruction was top notch. My instructor was by far the hardest working instructor I’ve ever seen. I was taught to exceed minimum standards. This didn't make things easy, but I'm glad that I was pushed. I flew 2 or 3 times a day and between flights I was in ground school. Van and Rob (and Radley) all did an awesome job of explaining the areas I had problems with.

I really enjoyed my time at White Air. Everybody was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I would recommend them to anybody looking for affordable, safe and quality flight training.

We enjoyed having you here Austin.

It was a joy working with a dedicated student such as yourself. Keep flying and stay sharp. Keep in touch and let us know how your studies are going in college.

I still laugh everytime I think of you flying a Diamond.

Took my chances on a big jet plane, Never let them tell you that they're all the same.

Van, you should PM Meritflyer. He's very interested in being a guest speaker on the dangers of drinking and flying.
