Default decision time

I want to become a pilot but I am trying to decide if I want to get my FAA licenses and stay in America or if I want to move back to the UK and get my JAA licenses. Obviously when looking at cost it makes more sense to stay here. I was wondering if anyone knows how much it costs to convert from FAA to JAA and whether or not it is a lengthy process, because if it works out cheaper to do that then it makes being able to move back a strong possiblity. I have looked at schools in America that do JAA licenses but they are still somewhat expensive.

I do know that a lot of schools in the UK actually contract with schools in the US. This is because the training is far less expensive in the US and the Airspace is more wide open and conducive to training.

As far as doing the FAA to JAA switch I do not know.

I have always heard the JAA ratings are very difficult as there are several tests for one rating (writtens) and they tend to be a little harder than the Gleim test.
