I didn't see any snow in GFK, but I did in Roseau on tuesday which is about a 45 minute flight to the northeast. It was pretty slushy outside, what a mess. I even slid at a stop sign. I think it's supposed to be in the 30s this weekend too. It's almost June! Why me.

Wow, but one can never be satisfied with weather. I WOULD NOT like being in Arizona during the summer. Hmm..let's see.... Cold's not any fun, but neither is the stickiness during the summer. Ugh, stickiness + 120F = crap Of course, I have yet to try both scenarios. Lowest I've experienced here in NY (that I remember) was -5F Highest I've experienced.... 106F But from what I remember, I think the cold was more bearable. I'll have to see this winter at ND, I guess. |

Right, I was looking at the average temps for Grand Forks, and it seems like 80's pretty much the average mid-July. Not too bad, that's as much I can tolerate anyway. Anything higher, and I'll go crazy with the stickiness/itchiness!

Oh and on top of this, I was speaking to my friend the other day (he went to the summer camp last year at UND—he'll be going this year as well) and he mentioned the mosquito/snow comparison, hehe... Noooooooooooooo. |

Just to rub it in, in San Diego right now it's 80 degrees and Sunny. It's been 75-80 lately and at night it gets down to the mid 60's. The weather doesn't really change around here, and here I am getting ready to go to UND??!?! I'm sure I will get a lot of people asking me why th h3ll I'd decide to move to ND.

Jason, are you going to UND this fall as well? [side note] I can imagine how depressing it must be during the winter over there. Imagine, if I find NY depressing during the winter, ND must be hell, my god. |

slide film. i took a photography class fall 03 for some world cultures credits. i ended up liking shooting slide film so much that i talked it up and ended up with 5 or 6 rolls that my aunt and sarah gave me. i shot up about half of one when i went flying the other day, but other than that, my shutter's been silent. i'm gonna try to take some pictures of that POS rolling in tonight though. trying to weigh that against studying for my CFI ride....decisions |

Kind of sounds expensive. And go shoot some pics, studying is overated anyways!! |

[ QUOTE ] Kind of sounds expensive. And go shoot some pics, studying is overated anyways!! [/ QUOTE ] Indeed expensive! That's why I'd go all-digital these days. C'mon, after "wasting" lots of money on film (assuming you're not a pro), owning an EOS10D (if you're a Canon fan like me) pays off, and doesn't hurt in the end. (oh, and no scanners needed )

maybe with the mad bank i'm sure i'll make when (not if ) i get hired in the fall i can afford to buy a D-70. i'm a nikonian thru and thru...no canon for me, though their high end DSLRs are pretty slick. slide film is kinda expensive. it's also expensive to have processed, except in conjunction with the slide photo class there's a nice lady named wanda in the med school who will process a roll for $5 a pop, which is pretty cheap compared to other places. this is a professional machine, too, as it handles all the photo work for the med/nursing school. slide film is a PITA to deal with but the image quality is simply breathtaking. it also makes you a better photographer because it's not as forgiving, compared to print film, if you make an error with exposure. eh, i'm rambling....how about those storms tonight? they looked awesome! edit - remembered i had a few slides lying around that i had scanned at walmart. imagine the same picture with about 10x the color clarity and overall sharpness. i took this down by the train tracks east of 2nd st downtown. i had to remove an abandoned 40oz from my shot here i love GF. |
