Ok this may sound like an un-informed question but, what do you UND students do in the dead of winter? (besides drink heavily, <<sarcasm>> sorta ) What is the campus life like?

Winter here sucks. There's no way around it though, so you just kinda learn how to deal with it and stick it out. We come up with creative indoor activities for the weekands though...

Ahhhh Pong of the Beer...Already lookin foward to the weekand. Speaking of the weekand for all of you incoming frosh, in ND the definition of weekand is Thursday - Sunday. At least for me Thursdays are usually the highlight, everyone is anxious to get the weekand started with a bang...and they do. Plus no classes till 1 for me ![]()

[ QUOTE ] Looks like you UND guys and us ERAU guys have something in commen aside from our cocky attitudes we're all alcoholics! lol I would die there way to cold for me [/ QUOTE ] I think we take the cake for drinking. UND is ranked #2 in the Nation for binge drinking. On behalf of all the students, I would like to thank the lame last call of 12:30 AM. What do you expect when we arrive at the bar between 10-11, we have to drink a lot so we get drunk because the bar closes so early. Another cool fact is the great state of ND ranks #1 (first time for being #1 in anything) in underage drinking. On behalf of all them (I used to be one of them, now am 22), I would like to thank the cities that have nothing to do. A big award goes to mother nature for our brutal winters. Thank you! Honorable mention goes to the police too, thanks for trying to cut down on underage drinking, just makes them want to do it more. ![]()

stay up late at night and sleep all day during the winters. or just straight hibernate, i had a roommate that slept almost 20 hours a day for a couple months. he was fat and dumb though. word of warning, in the winter, don't let the clear, blue, sunny, cloudless skies fool you. those are the coldest day - cold air=high pressure=blows out all the crappy weather. on the other hand, with those ultra-cold temps the winds are usually light and a warrior with 2 on board can crack 500ft/min climb at Vy ![]() i also knew some guys way way back in the day that lived in west hall, i thought they were pretty cool...then one friday or saturday night i went over and they were going from suite to suite to suite hollering "sioux 243, i'm coming on in..." i quit hanging out with those guys shortly thereafter. do yourself a favor and make a couple good friends who can help keep you sane, you'll all appreciate it.

After all this talk of drinking in the last few days I think it is about time for a bit of a disclaimer. As you have read, there is no question that most of the aviation students at UND know how to have a good time on the weekand. Now, having said that I think it is also important to point out that we know how to buckle down and get things done when push comes to shove. Sure there are those few people that can't handle the task of balancing a good time and school, but those are the people that end up washing out. Which is a good thing because if they can't handle it now I dont want them trying to handle it five years down the road when they're flying professionaly. Just wanted to put that out there. We have a good time up here in the great white north, but I think it's safe to say we keep our priorities in sight at all times. [/soapbox] Matt

Very interesting perspective. I'm from New York so I know what winter is like. What about in the spring/summer and early fall months when weather is more livable, what is the big thing to do then? (judging by your responses i'm gonna have to throw in a "besides drinking" disclaimer) Oh, and what are the chicks like out at UND???? ![]()

Be careful asking about the women. I asked the Riddle boys about the women down there and now they are talking about Glocks and porno, etc.

A touchy subject indeed, but doesn't Riddle have a 6 to 1 ratio of guys to girls? I'm pretty sure UND is about even, so I don't think you'll hear a lot of horror stories.

i think that for most of the riddle guys, porno is the only girls they've ever seen or dated ![]() there are a few cool girls at UND...aerospace imports people from all over the world and the people from elsewhere are going to be the people that you'll be the best friends with, because you can all relate to how crummy GF is and how much better other places are. some of the girls in aerospace are kinda......yeah. but there's a few keepers. then there's the really smart ones like mine that came here for a year and hated it so much she transferred to fly and study elsewhere.

I remembered this picture when you said that. http://www.reslife.und.edu/west/Pingpong2.jpg The guys are playing hardcore there eh? ![]() |

HA! I know all of the guys in that picture. That's taken in the lounge area of West. Unfortunately a game of beer pong on that table would last no more than a few seconds before being written up. One more thing not to miss about the dorms!

AngelFuree, I think the girls here are great. There are hotties all over the place. You just have to go to the right places to find them, and the aviation buildings are the last place to look. I have found a few good girlfriends, but I have found someone great both inside and out. I think Mtts422 can attest to my girlfriend's looks. Wherever you attend school, you will always find the ones you don't like, no matter what. But I have just found the girls here to be above average when compared to other schools I have been to.

I'll add to Luc what Luc had to say. By no means is UND the first place you would think to look for good looking women but there really are more than someone might expect, I for one was pleasantly surprised.

ok, I had to reply to this one. I'm a chick and fly at UND. I can say that my looks are just fine (Luke has my back on that one), but the aviation department isn't the best place to look for good looking women.
