[ QUOTE ] Are you really serious? I'm starting to think that you guys are really going to college to get that check-in-the-box, rather than to learn things!!! I took lots of Spanish, and although I don't remember half of it, it's helped me tremendously!!! [/ QUOTE ] I have no desire to learn a foreign language. I would much rather take other classes. Just curious, how has Spanish helped you tremendously? |

[ QUOTE ] Just curious, how has Spanish helped you tremendously? [/ QUOTE ] In alot of ways....First, I was born and raised in California, and Spanish as a second language is just a smart thing to have. That's fast becoming the case in much of the U.S. Second, it has helped me understand more than my little silly illogical language...which has helped me to understand parts of still other languages! Thirdly, it helps your critical thinking skills - much like Philosophy does. Remember, I'd rather take "Airplane Seats & Upholstery" rather than "Human Resources Management", but it doesn't mean it's a good idea. |

I'm glad I'm a native spanish speaker, in that sense. It really HAS helped me in connecting many english, french, and italian words. (Latin derived, obviously) But learning multiple languages isn't for everyone. (well, certainly not for me) |

ENGLISH is the language of the United States. When in Rome, do as the Romans too. It's not when in Rome, make the Romans do it like we do.

[/ QUOTE ] What in the world are you talking about ![]() If you want to be a University educated person, you're going to have to learn more than English and Airplanes 101. That's what it comes down to. Making ignorant "I'm a millworking American" comments like that aren't going to support your case much! VO-TECH schools are to give you basic, functional skills. If you want to learn to fly and that's all, go to Comair or FSI. If you want a university education, you're going to have to go deeper than that!!! |
