Automatic Admission?

I was looking admission standards at UND and is it me or are they a little bit low? I am starting to look at colleges so I was curious. If they are right then hell yes!

Automatic Admission Standards

Automatic Admission is granted to high school graduates entering as freshmen and transfer students with less than 24 semester hours of transferable credit, whose ACT and GPA scores correspond with our Admission Chart. In addition, you must meet the high school core requirements - English (4 units), Math (3 units of Algebra I or above), Lab Science (3 units), Social Studies (3 units).

GPA Range 18-36 ACT / 870-1600 SAT3.50 — 4.00 19-36 ACT / 910-1600 SAT3.00 — 4.00 20-36 ACT / 950-1600 SAT2.75 — 4.00 21-36 ACT / 990-1600 SAT2.50 — 4.00 22-36 ACT / 1030-1600 SAT2.25 — 4.00 SAT and ACT scores considered for UND admission, consist only of the math and verbal sections. The writing section is not measured on either test.
You should still apply for admission even if your GPA or ACT don't meet automatic admission standards. Your application will be reviewed by a committee that will look at all relevant information to make their admission decision.
Students over 25 aren't required to submit an ACT or SAT score.

Yup if you fall into the right categories on the admission chart then you get automatic admission as long as you meet the high school course requirements. UND does have pretty low admission standards but on college board it says 70% of applicants admitted.

If chart says you are in for automatic admission then you are good to go, just don't fail every class your senior year.

UND wants as many students as they can get (they compete against NDSU) so they follow the logic that if they let everyone in then the people that can't make it will drop out. This why UND has so many freshmen and such a small percentage of freshmen that return for their sophomore year. It's a win for UND because they get to show lots of incoming students and don't have to spend a ton of money on admissions processing. It's also not a bad deal for those of us who are serious about getting a degree here because the people who aren't get to pay in for a year just to get nothing in return. And believe me, there are a lot of people here that do not belong at a college.

i got accepted very quickly and without equivocation becuause i blew all of those criteria out of the water. However, it seemed like still a pretty darn good academic school when i went to visit.

the avit dept is solid.

the other side of campus is a total farking joke. the "core curriculum" classes are well below highschool level content, and the INTELLECTUAL GIANTS in those classes are sure to amaze you.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who thought that. I was thinking of trying for a sports scholarship. When I saw the pillars of society that I'd be teammates with, and found out that there was mandatory study hall (in COLLEGE!), I decided that I'd rather hit the books...thank God for the Presidential Scholarship. I'm really glad that Running Start will have allowed me to do all of my E.S. courses while I'm still in high school.

So wait a minute, I ama junior and by next year I will have fulfilled all the class requirements. Got a 28 on ACT, 3.2 GPA. Are you telling I can be automatically accepted?

but the higher level classes in those departments are much better and more difficult than the aviation classes. the avit classes other than groundschools are a joke, at least they were when i was taking them.

It says that you qualify for a $4000 scholarship, too; if it's not too late, I'd still retake the ACT if I were you--you're 1 point away on the ACT from qualifying for a Presidential Scholarship. If you can get 1 point better on the ACT and get your GPA up to a 3.65 before applying, you get the big bucks, no essay required. Oh, and if you're a Presidential Scholar, you get priority registration--helpful for getting into the first flight class in the fall. Good luck!

Does anyone know what the SAT reqiurements are for a Presidential Scholarship?

I'm a junior too and I'll be taking the SAT in June. My GPA at the end of the year should be around 3.8-3.9. I already have four units of math (from Algebra 1), three units of science (labs included), three units of social studies, three units of english.

I think that this would be the only college that I would apply to.

I am going through the same college applying process too. Everybody tells me that you should definitely apply to more than one school, have at least one safety. Allthough I guess with these requirements UND might be considered a "safety"

I don't think UND is very strict on what grades you have from highschool. I graduated highschool with A's and B's and didn't do so well on the SAT's and still got a letter of acceptance. I think if your from out of state, they will take any student who applies. After all, this is North Dakota.

PLEASE shop around a little bit! What if it's not what you expect? Where are you going to go?

Yes, that is correct. Apply at other schools, visit them and see what they are like... Just incase you decide that maybe UND isn't "the best" for you.

Do you have college credit already? I think that's what credit they are talking about. You will get in to UND. I swear.

Just send in an application for UND and then don't worry about anything. A few weeks later, you will get an acceptance letter and all the other stuff.

It's as simple as that.
