Well, it didn't actually explode, but it sure made some cool noises; noises I have never hear a computer make... Very strange. Anyway, it seems I am SOL when it comes to all my documents and stuff, as I was an idiot and didn't back up my hard drive. Maybe the guys at Resnet can help me. Ha right. I hope the guys in Clifford can save me, but most importantly I hope I don't have to pay any money. |

That sucks! I backed up all my docs on my iPod and DVDs because the first Dell laptops (that we got right after the Gateways) had high hard drive failure rates. Fortunately I never had an issue ever.

Yikes! I think I almost started a fire in Willis's office. I brought all my stuff just in case I needed it for my stage 22 and we came back from the flight to a burning smell in his office. haha

Well, I don't know what happened and neither do the aerospace help people. But I took it in today and when I pushed the power button the help guy said "that's not good" so I guess whatever happened isn't good. I think I was able to get back all my documents though, so woo hoo! I get it back tomorrow so I'll see if my docs are on the new one.

Heh, don't even get me started... It's got to be one of the dumbest things UND's got going on.

omfg! I have a $499 laptop right now, running Vista, and it runs really well after I cleaned it up with all of the crapware that came w/ it. That's how much we payed for a semester of that thing! ...and whoever brings me the whole FliteStar argument BS will trigger me with this topic.

![]() seriously what software do they provide on those things that you can't get elsewhere, and if you can't how often does it ever get used, probably less than 0.05% of the time

I graduated in 2002, I can't believe that they still have that stupid shi$$y notebook program. I was in the "first generation" aero notebook class, was hoping that went away for everybody else's sake!

| Well, from what I hear...back in the day, the laptop program REALLY sucked. At least it has improved, a bit.

I'm surprised people haven't fought this more in the past. Spending over 3k on a laptop is stupid. Spending 3k to borrow a laptop is just... So dumb. |

| See, that's what I don't get. How can ONE ONE ONE ONE ONE ONE ONE person have the final say on something so stupid as this stupid program?? ...and they say they're not making money out of it. Not making money my ass. Who do they think we are to be buying their BS? "Angel, if you don't like the laptop program, then just leave." I can already predict someone saying that. |

Just kidding, I just want to buy my own laptop and pick what software I want on it. As for flitestar, sure it is useful, but how ofter does it acutally get used? I can count on one hand the amount of times I have used it in the past 3 semesters.

| Junior Member | Speaking of the Craptops, aren't we due for new ones this summer? I wonder which cheap ones UND can get a good deal on. Or maybe they will get rid of it this summer! (In my dreams!) But seriously if we really wanted to try to get rid of the laptops now would be the time to campaign against it and then try to have them scrap it over the summer before they buy the new computers. I smell a protest in the parking lot or is that just simplot? |
