Hey Everyone: Just wanted to throw out a quick survery to all former UND students to get an idea where everyone is these days and how you would rate your education from UND. This will also help any current/future students. 1. When did you graduate form UND? 2. How many years did you attend UND? 3. Did you transfer to UND? 4. What other colleges/universities did you apply to? 5. What was your major/field of study/minor? 6. Who is your current employer and job title? 7. How long have you been with your current employer? 8. Are you happy with your current job? 9. Where is your current residence? 10. Would you ever move back to North Dakota? 11. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest, please rate how well your UND education prepared you for your job? 12. If you could start college over would you still choose UND? 13. Is there any advice you would pass along to current UND students? |

If you could start college over would you still choose UND? Yes 13. Is there any advice you would pass along to current UND students? Enjoy your time. Yes, it is cold as sh** and Yes GF can smell like sh**. However, your education up there will carry some weight in the aviation world. I don't fly for the airlines, but still plan on having a career in Aircraft Sales and I can say without a doubt that the UND name on my resume has helped.

| 1. When did you graduate form UND? May 2007. 2. How many years did you attend UND? 3 years. 3. Did you transfer to UND? Yes, from a community college. 4. What other colleges/universities did you apply to? A few non-aviation universities and Embry-Riddle. 5. What was your major/field of study/minor? BBA in Aviation Management. No minor or additional coursework. 6. Who is your current employer and job title? Piedmont Airlines, F/O on the Dash 8. 7. How long have you been with your current employer? A little over 2 months. 8. Are you happy with your current job? YES! It's like I'm not even working. 9. Where is your current residence? San Diego, CA 10. Would you ever move back to North Dakota? No way. I would never subject myself to such torture. 11. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest, please rate how well your UND education prepared you for your job? 7 12. If you could start college over would you still choose UND? This is a very difficult question to answer. If I could start college over, some days I think I would've attended San Diego State University and done my flight training at a flying club - but I am always reminded of the great friends I made at UND and think otherwise. The training at UND is very good too, even with the few bad apple stage check pilots. 13. Is there any advice you would pass along to current UND students? Do your research before coming to UND to see if you can really handle living in Grand Forks. I was able to handle it, but it was really tough. For me it wasn't the cold or the weather that got to me - it was the complete lack of entertainment, culture, quality restaurants, and scenery. I really did enjoy the laid back and slow pace of life though. The best advise to hear is to meet a really good group of friends so that you can deal with the initial boredom of being in North Dakota - you'll be surprised with the entertainment a few good friends getting together can come up with.

Take advantage of student hockey tickets! Fill the Ralph every weekend!

| Jace, I'll give you a break cause I've met you in person and you're not like your JC online persona (or at least you don't bitch as much in real life as you do on here, lol). But you know there are a lot of aviation students who bash ND and complain about the weather/lack of big city entertainment (hello we're in GF ND people!)/the big bad SOF went no fly/etc. I wouldn't want to be brought down by hanging out with those kind of people. That's what I was getting at.

Would you ever move back to North Dakota? go pound sand 11. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest, please rate how well your UND education prepared you for your job? 7. i was taught that flying close to other planes is bad, and i find myself doing a lot of air-to-air photo shoots now and that requires some precision flying. luckily, i got in before the CRJ stuff was mandatory; had i been req'd to take the CRJ course i would probably rate this as a 4 or 5, since the only jet i want to work in is a Lear with steam gauges and no FMS. 12. If you could start college over would you still choose UND? hard call. if i wanted to go airlines, i'd say yes. if i choose to continue in GA, i'll say probably not. i will say this, the UND degree helped me get my current job. 13. Is there any advice you would pass along to current UND students? visit in the winter. adapt. you can bitch, but don't be bitter; you chose to go there and you can leave if you're unsatisfied.

Currently in the process, Fargo to be exact! 11. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest, please rate how well your UND education prepared you for your job? 9, UND taught me much more than how to fly airplanes. I learned many valuable skills that allowed me to enhance my ability to be competitive in the job market. I also feel the Aerospace program prepared me to suceed in my first part 121 training event, there were numerous similarities between UND and the airline. 12. If you could start college over would you still choose UND? I would attend UND again if I had to do it over. I do feel that UND has added a bunch of expensive, useless requirements to it's cirriculum, i.e. CRJ course. I don't know of many people that have prepared themselves accordingly who can not learn and adapt to flying a jet/turboprop with a glass cockpit. I will commend UND and it's technologically heavy training environment, I feel that helped me tremendously. 13. Is there any advice you would pass along to current UND students? Make the best of your situation, focus on the long-term goals, and become a master of your craft! |

If you could start college over would you still choose UND? Only if the current me could educate the past me. 13. Is there any advice you would pass along to current UND students? If you chose to go to UND, study hard, and get the hell out. Also a double major would be a good idea (second major being not aviation related).

Wouldn't think otherwise, I met some of the best people there, and got a good education along the way. 13. Is there any advice you would pass along to current UND students? Everywhere else you go will seem like a vacation once you have been to UND for four years! Flying arcs, Back courses, and operating out of small airports IFR etc. may suck now, but its amazing the amount of "qualified" pilots that don't know how to do it correctly.

If you could start college over would you still choose UND? For sure 13. Is there any advice you would pass along to current UND students? There is some website out there that some disgruntled student made about UND. It has all these false facts and figures about UND including its aviation and saying how bad it is there. Well its all hogwash! I had a blast there and will always miss my time there. The training is top notch, as well as your classes. I enjoyed being involved in other parts of campus as well. It really kept my sanity as I didn't talk about airplanes 24/7. I'm finding that needs to be true when you graduate to a flying job. HAVE SOMETHING ELSE BESIDES FLYING YOU LIKE TO DO! Thats the best advice I ever ever got!

Think hard of where you want to go afterword. Is money a big issue? Theres many just as good, cheaper ways of flight training. At und basically your paying the big bucks for the UND name. =Jason- |
