| Senior Member | Rumor has it that there aren’t any FAA DPE’s available until next semester. Just as all the 102’s are finishing up their courses and getting ready for the check ride, all the examiners go on vacation. If all this is true and I was waiting for my check ride, I would be pissed! My friend is finished with 105 and waiting for his ride... I think he is going to do it back in Portland now. |

Where did you hear this? As far as my CFI told me 102s don't need an FAA DPE. Since they don't do a FAA checkride, as they are part 141, they do it usually with a lead flight instructor. My friend in 112 just got his set up with a DPE too...

Interesting. I thought the 102's had to have an FAA checkride. I thought there was a Stage 30 then a checkride. Is the stage 30 the last flight in 102? When I did 112 I had a stage check, not bye a DPE (Could have been, he was really tough. ) My friend who is a 105 has to have a checkride...

It's just stage 30 for the 102's. A lead instructor carries the stage/check rides out. That would suck if there was a stage 30 then a DPE ride. |

102 course = stage check 30 105 course = Needs FAA Check Ride after stage 14 112 course = stage check 14 conducted usually by 102/26 stage pilots |
