Just got assigned for the stage 53. You guys have any pointers on what to study or what areas I should focus on? Thanks.

Try to make some small chit chat, unless your stage pilot is total robot. It will help the time go by faster

For every stage check, don't do what I do and talk to friggen much. I don't think I've had a stage check go less than 2.5-3 hours because of my big mouth. I pretty much dig myself a nice deep hole for every question I think.

I noticed that I did the same thing in my 102 course. On the stage 14 I just said simple answers and we got done in about 30 minutes or so. On the 26 and 30 though I was a little bit unsure and tried to fake my way through by saying anything I could think of. Of course the instructors would then ask more questions covering the same things.

WHOA, TRUE. Just don't talk TOO much. Helped me out in all of my stages. Break the ice in the beginning. It has always helped me relax, too.

Having a little conversation on the 53 helps, because the usual route is GFK-FAR-3H4-GFK! Heading down to Fargo, I found myself having a pretty generic conversation, ""Why I chose UND? How do I like ND? blah blah How is NY? blah blah"

Yep, that's what I had. Only the instructor I had (Ms. personality) was pretty boring to fly with. You guys can probably guess who that was. Hint: she left about a year ago.

lol, I wonder how many of them actually know of what's down there. I, for one, had no idea of it back then.

I didn't have the most talkative of stage pilots for that flight. I had the same exact route (GFK-FAR-3H4-GFK). I won't say names, but he's still around with his orange goatee.

Yeah, I had no idea what was there either. I've always noticed the flashing lights, but didn't know what the heck it was.

Got the oral done. Piece of cake. We were done in .8 but he billed me for 1.0 but he is not going to bill for pre/post on the flight. Hooray! FAR-3H4 here I come!

I would say a combination of knowing my stuff and the stage pilot. I did spend 3 hours in the library studying so that helped too.

that is very short for the 53, most are upwards of 2 hours pretty sure.

A buddy of mine who had his Monday said that the oral was the hardest one he has had and his took 2 hours. I was expecting it to be longer, but we moved through it pretty quickly hitting all of the major concepts and ideas.

Your oral was easy compared to my Stage 53. I had DOND () - the oral I believe lasted 3.5 hours. If you search the UND forums you will find my big long rant followed by a lot of sympathy from those who know all about the guy.

For the people that hate him, he was forced to resign at UND and was fired at Mesaba. Maybe that will make some people feel better.

I just searched through the forum and found the thread about your 222 stage 46. The guy asked a question about a box around the tower right? Just checking to make sure I was in the right place....
