Haven't lived in em, but have been in them several times. They are really nice, but probably not worth the price because you can live off-campus cheaper. But if you have to live on campus, by all means go there if you can.

I know some guys that really like them seeing as how they are furnished and close to classes. They have a credit limit on them so if you are coming as a freshman I don't think you can get into them.

I live in them now and they're really nice.

I'm not exactly sure on the costs of living on off-campus apartments, but I know they're less expensive than the dorms even with food factored in. In addition, having them fully furnished saves quite a bit initially.

sweet. weasel, which side do you live on? Are you facing the front when looking out the window?

I want to know which side has the best view.

Are you really going to request a side?! Haha. Neither side is much to write home about... One looks out over University, the other side looks out over the parking lot in the back. However, be aware that if you are on the University side you will be exposed to a direct stream of Simplot fumes. The place seems pretty air tight though, so you should be set.

I live on a university apartment facing University Ave. Nothing beats paying $420/month + $7 utilities for a two bedroom apartment, living alone.

Are you in one of those newer apartment buildings across the street from Ryan Hall?

Haha, no, those are a lot more pricey. I'm in the older 1860s apartments next to Odegard, east (the ones w/ the white pillars).

Depends on what your idea of safe is......
.....if you're referring to cars getting jacked...most likely not. A lot of people leave their cars running in the winter with the doors unlocked, unattended, at the store parking lots.

..................BUT.............is it SAFE to park your car?
I wouldn't say so. North Dakota door dings galore, welcome.

Your car won't be jacked, but I had two windows broken in UND parking lots. They didn't take anything, it seems like the kids around here do it just for s hits and giggles or out of boredom.

You can also expect plenty of door dings. I park in the way back even in bad weather to avoid it but it still happened to me.

In the summer the trees have some pretty nasty stuff they deposit on the car's finish.

It's a pain to clear the ice/snow off in the winter. It also gets so cold that most cars don't really warm up (until halfway to the airport for instance). If you were just going across campus your car would hate you for it. Engine block heaters help but mine always started without one.

Oh another thing, studless snow tires are highly recommended like these on tirerack.com

I finally have a garage at my off campus apartment... highly recommended. I think there's a way to rent garage space in the gallery apartment garages if you live in the dorms. Can anyone confirm/deny this?

Concur with the above. One day an old man slammed his door into my roommate's Integra, while he was sitting in it. My roommate jumped out, glared at the guy, and said, "You just hit my car!" Old man: "No, I didn't." Roommate: "Yeah, you did." Old man: "No, I didn't." Unfortunately for the stupid North Dakotan, my roommate was an auto insurance claims adjuster before he got into aviation...Not the guy whose car you want to hurt. If you like having straight doors, don't live in NoDak.

And yeah, Blizzaks rock!

My car went from mint, showroom quality condition to borderline complete garbage. I'm still deciding whether or not it's worth me trying to fix. I know my car isn't anything special, but I still like the cars I drive to be mint. Every car I've owned has been that way and I've always been able to keep them that way. Until now I guess.

Oh, and if you can't afford bilzzaks, green diamond tires are pretty damn good too.

I blame the environment. I think I would be mentally-ill/handicapped if I was to have lived here my whole life. I would go crazy in all possible definitions of the word.

As much as I dislike American cars, I really have a large appreciation for people who take care of their cars as much as you (and I and most other car enthusiasts) do. I always saw this lady driving around in Grand Forks who had a 1984 Mercedes 190E. It was always presented in showroom condition - obviously continually waxed, washed, and garaged. I couldn't help but extend admiration to her for keeping that car in such good shape in such a hostile environment for cars.
