Default Grand Forks Visit

I kinda miss Grand Forks... I think I'm going to make a trip out there next summer... Oh my gaud, did I just say this? Things I miss:

1) No traffic (although it's not bad in San Diego...but driving in LA...holy moly)
2) Prairie grass in the summer evening smells so good
3) Midnight-3am thunderstorms
4) Rain (it hasn't rained since I've moved back... probably won't until next January)
5) Snow (fun to drive in)
6) You can buy fireworks that are mostly illegal in CA
7) North Dakota sunsets
8) Aurora Borealis
9) ...and last but not least, all the great friends/colleagues I met there and having to be VERY creative to find things to do, but it was fun regardless.

I will leave out the negatives of Grand Forks for now... we all know what they are anyway.

Hahaha, that's pretty funny, Jace. I think No. 9 is what does it for you.

I've ALWAYS said (to friends) that when I leave this place I'll miss it somehow, but mainly for friends and no more than that. Proof of that was edubs's visit this weekend from Seattle. For friends!

I'm sure I'll be happy in Cali once I make the move over there. There's access to everything within California. If you'd like quiet, you can find it. The large group of friends will be missed, however.

Leaving Grand Forks in May was fine for me. I missed it for maybe one day, and then I forgot about it until they sent me a parking pass application in the mail a couple weeks ago. I guess I'll be there pretty soon.

Concur with all of the above. I went back to visit friends a couple of times, but not again after they also moved on.

Jace, you need to come up here for the winter so we can tandem drift all over this town!!

If not, hopefully by the time you come up here next summer, I'll be sporting a 98 BMW M3 sedan, or a nicely restored '67 cougar. Think you can keep up?

I never thought I would miss Fargo (or the midwest, period). But you pointed out some pretty valid things, thar.

I kinda prefer a nice young fox by my side, but if buffalo's are your thing, more power to you man!
