| Old Skool | http://www.boston.com/news/odd/artic...om_in_tractor/ mind you, this is in their ODD NEWS section N.D. senior goes to prom in tractor April 25, 2007 NEW ROCKFORD, N.D. --Forget taking a limousine to the prom. One high school senior drove his date in a 1992 green John Deere 8760 tractor. "A few people made bets with me that I wouldn't do it," said Levi Rue, a senior at New Rockford-Sheyenne High School. "I guess I won them." Rue suggested the idea to his date, Alissa Bachmeier, last Thursday, two days before the prom. She wasn't sure, worried about her dress getting dirty. But after Rue showed her pictures of the tractor and promised to make sure it was immaculate, Bachmeier agreed. "I cleaned it up pretty good," he said. Bachmeier wore a lime green prom dress that nearly matched the tractor. Rue said they drove around town and to his grandmother's house to show her the unusual chariot. "We got quite a few people who stopped and looked and stared and waved," he said. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

| Welcome to ND. A while ago there was an article in USA Today about a girl from Mandan who rode a mule to school everyday. Excellent efficient form of transportation. When I move back to CA I think I'm going to buy a donkey to ride to work. Or maybe an emu. |

| Did Mr. Lindh tell you about how I almost ran over Bjørn and Hilga Luftassen today? I also almost got hit by Sven and his Ford while leaving the Gamble parking lot! (blind spots are a bitch in big trucks equipped with vertical big rig side tail pipes!) |

I laughed. Seriously, I was just being kind and reminding them to look and don't assume someone will stop ESPECIALLY if you are not in a crosswalk. Who knows, maybe they'll look next time and it'll save an accident.

Obviously, if they're already there I'll stop. But, if Hjørdis Lufstad in the Oldsmobile Alero in front of me STOPS just in case Ingrid Johansson sporting her grey sweatpants and snowmobile jacket (although 50 feet from the edge of the street) might be walking toward University avenue to cross, it annoys me. An immediate lay down on the horn ensues. ![]()

| My goal when I drive my car on university ave. is to time it so that i don't have to touch my brakes. By doing this I try not to waste a pedestrian or other car's time by making them wait for me, I try to time it so that neither of us has to wait. As long as they don't do anything eratic it usually works out pretty well. Good for fuel economy too. But... There are a lot of people who are tuned out on campus. Be it phone or iPod they couldn't possibly devote more than 10% of their brain's processing power to the act of walking/driving/riding etc. So it's a constant battle. |

| Senior Member | My good buddy in high school took his dad's combine (with his date). If anyone hasn't ever seen a new combine up close and personal, those things are amazing pieces of machinery. Some of the people who own/operate big farms are dealing with extremely large amounts of money and don't display "redneck" attributes at all. We also had one kid take an 18-wheeler and another brought by his dad in their helicopter. Like Andrew, we also had many people ride snowmobiles to school. |

| ...or some of those high-end GPS operated tractors that cost $100k (excuse my lack of knowledge about farming... I know nothing of it...but that's what I heard from another farmer). Kinda weird to think that your tractor costs 8 times as much as your house. |

| Senior Member | I bet after prom they had a party in the hay loft of the barn too! Interesting fact, a UPD Lt. told me today that you can go 11 over on University without getting a ticket, they start issuing at 12 over. |

| I damn near laugh my ass off everytime I see a combine driving down the road here. Seriously, I'm from Iowa so this shouldn't shock me. I've just NEVER seen one driving down a city street before and every time I do here I nearly have to pull over until I'm done laughing. ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() And yes, then you have the ding dongs that are completely oblivious to the rest of the world. One of my friends being one of them. He blatenly tells me he just prances(I use the word prance to further degrade his already dumbass behavior ) out into the street on the friggen phone without looking. He thinks he has the right-away on the entire street, when infact if you look up the state, city, and code of student life, you only have the right of way in the dashed crosswalks, not the solid double line ones and certainly not the entire length of the street. Still, regardless of what the law says, a car weighs 2 tons, a person a lot less. Who REALLY has the right of way? I don't care what kind of case you'd have in court, you're gona feel like crap the rest of your life if you get hit by a car because of a stupid driver and stupid you not using your head.Me as a pedestrian, I always wait for a gap if possible. But then you have the guys that I talked about above that stop when I'm just getting to the curb when all I'm trying to do is time it so I can walk right behind their car without causing him or the guy behind them to stop. Yeah, their just being nice, but so am I.

You are my hero. Straightening out one stupid moron at a time. With the abundant supply of idiots continually being admitted into this school, it might be a lost cause.

What's funny is that pedestrians tend to respect bicycles more than cars...I don't get it....
