Default The drifting thread! (car warning)

This forum is dead, at least 6 of us UND guys are into cars, so we're gona discuss car stuff in this thread. Don't like it, don't read it and start your own aviation related thread. Hey at least it's better we have dedicated thread than us inevitably hijacking your thread later!

Post up your pics and vids of cars going sideways yo!

Who would have thought that a bunch of kids that are into airplanes would run out of things to talk about...

Oh me too. Anyone that's into rally racing should watch this video. Amazingly put together. Damn I wish the gruppe B class was still around. The cars in WRC are for little girls in comparison. Oh well, it was done away with for a reason, for the better.(there, I said it, now we can argue about it! )

I like this quote from this video though:
Interviewer: Do you think the new peugeot is just too fast for audi
Driver: No, I think audi is just too fast for me(in reference to the audi S1 rally car, the best rally car ever concieved)

http://www.biertijd.com/mediaplayer/?itemid=947

I hope none of you are studying, because you're gona want to watch that like 7 times.

I watched that rally video twice, but am about to go to class. I like how all the fans stand in the middle of the tracks until the last second.

No one's posted a Nascar video yet??

Hey, any of you car guys know anything about auto repair? I have a kit car replica of a 1956 Austin Healy that's having ignition problems and could use some fresh ideas.

While the racing is lame as hell, I think you'd be surprised what they can get out of those things using "old school" tech. 800hp(rumored to be capable of 1150hp without ALL restrictions) out of a 355ci NA engine, running 9800rpms for 3 hours straight, and getting 7 mpg is pretty damn good don't you think?

The engines, The rest though, BAH!

Well sure, they're even carburated. Any engineer can push out a nice HP figure out of any pushrod V8.

The only austins I know a little about are the austin minis(before being bought by BMW and being renamed mini-cooper). I hate electrical stuff, it's always something dumb like a busted ground wire in a place you can't see or something like that.

I'd check all your ground wires, the coil, and making sure the coil is wired correctly. That and maybe check to make sure the plugs wires are hooked up correctly. Once, my dumb ass decided to change the spark plug wires on my s-10 and instead of changing them one at a time, I took them all off at once. It wasn't 3 seconds after I did that when I said "Oh %$#$!"

Oh and by chance do you have a tach hooked up? If you wire that up wrong, you'll ground out your ignition and you won't get a spark.

It's starting to get warm again...who was it that had the quick fix for the air conditioner in their car? I need to fix the A/C on my 93' Camry before the humidity sets in! Who was it that was gonna help me out with this?

Yep, that's a home AC unit.

Just be careful if you're putting R134 in an R12 system. I'm not sure of the differences but your compressor will make all kinds of noise. Good or bad, I'm not sure. I did the same thing to an 87 blazer with the R12 system and it ran for the 3 years that I had it with R134 in it.

from what i gather its pretty much a roll of the dice whether or not 134 will work in a r12 system...

mine works perfectly. no strange noises, leaks, compressor failure, etc.

my buddy's honda accord, same deal, worked fine.

tugrul's bmw... works fine.

but then again ive seen compressors like instantly break down and have oil and crap leak everywhere.

your mileage may vary.

Oh yes. I don't really like mustangs, but I can't think of many cars, if any, that sound better. Especially the supercharged variety.
