Anyone else get this guy Frosty at the Grand Forks FSS? One of the best, kindest, and most thorough weather briefers. I used to speak with him all the time in 2004 when the GF FSS was in full operation. It's gonna suck when we have to exclusively talk to Princeton. I called him last night at 2am to get an outlook weather briefing. I was thinking "oh cool it's Frosty" hahaha. Funny name.

I don't think I ever had someone say his name was Frosty, but there was a couple briefers who were nice and didn't make you feel rushed to get off the line. But usually, I called someone who was always in a hurry, and if I didn't say what I wanted in the order they liked, they got pretty upset. Also, isn't going to sleep after 2am a violation of safety policies?

Frosty rules! I worked with all of those guys/gals over there waaaaay back in 1997 doing a summer job corp thing at the FSS. Nicest bunch of people you would ever meet, it is shame about all the downsizing going on.

My favorite was Greg. He was always patient, seemed really laid back, and was really helpful. I haven't heard him in a long time though! It will be sad to see those folks go.

I've witnessed the downsizing of FSS first hand and it pretty much sucks. Just recently they closed down Leesburg FSS and moved to Leesburg Regional which is supposed to be all high tech, and I've heard on multiple occasions "I don't really know how to do that". Not a good thing when you're talking about ADIZ flight plans either. I miss the old way of doing things.

A lot of the other briefers are rude and short. They automatically assume you're a 20hr student pilot and start scolding you if you mis-speak or don't follow the following format precisely:
