New Tax on AvFuel??

I heard somewhere there might be some 50 cent tax per gallon on our fuel going into effect sometime. Is this true? Is it a different amount and not per gallong? If it is.. does anyone know when it will be going into effect? Who and where would this new tax money go to?

I hear it's 70 cents... but that's in the initiative of user fee proposal set out by our wonderful female FAA rep with absolutely no aviation experience who has no business dealing with aviation affairs in the first place.

Would it be per gallon? Do you know why it was even brought up to add the tax? By that I mean, do you know what the money would go towards?

I'm too lazy to look, but isn't there already a tax on pax tickets that goes into an "Aviation Improvement" fund????

So have you heard what this newly proposed tax would be for?

I haven't heard or read about it, but I don't fly GA much anymore. If I had to guess I would say it is for the privatization (god I can't spell) of the ATC system.

Yup, it goes into the Airport Improvement Project fund as you sort of mentioned, and yea its included in the fabulous PFC charges when you buy your airline tickets.
