Yeah, that sucks. It happends everywhere it snows though. We just don't notice it much up here because we never get big snows.(in the 3 years I've been here at least) I remember once back home I got a 20 incher and I swear it took my family and I like an hour and half to dig out the entrance to the driveway. I only remember because I think I was four and definitly not happy. haha

De nada.

I'm kinda hoping people will catch on to where the line is being drawn so I don't have to do it quite so often, if you catch my drift...

They won't cancel school no matter what. One of my professors said they wouldn't cancel school here even if somebody died because of the weather. I'm pretty sure he wasn't being sarcastic.

Friday's my day off so I get it off anyway

Oh they won't cancel school. They expect you to get here with your farm's mule or Snowmobile since everyone has one of those here, right?

Yeah, the last time that school was cancelled because of snow, Kupchella didn't even make the decision and said it would never be cancelled again.

Well I am under the impression that if class is cancelled it is because of the adverse risks and liability the university faces. Tomorrow is a great example of such a day, with travel not being advise by the people who know weather (most of the time). I am thinking the stubborness of Kupchella probably results from the general attitude of "Oh fer yar, I fell down and suffered a concussion on the ice, yar, silly me, I can't complain, because Sven and Olga would be mad at me. Plus uncle Hidle has injured himself on the ice many time in Norway, silly me thinking of complaining."

At my part-time job I use the same radio frequency as the Facilities Department. I heard them talking about when they are planning to plow on-campus. They quit today at roughly 4PM and will start again at 2AM.

UND obviously takes the liability thing seriously. I know they dump an enormous amount of money into the sometimes daily snow-removal operations. Unfortunately for those of us that live off campus the city (or our landlords) don't take it as seriously. I guess UND figures if you live off campus you're pretty much on your own.

Even though Kupchella is from Pennsylvania hes has to have a heritage from Norway since hes in Grand Forks.

wait wait wait. Ya'll want school cancelled tomorrow because of the snow, but you could just have Tom come pick ya'll up and drop you off at class, he is an expert at driving in the snow. Hell, he could even charge a small fee and make some bank!

Yeah I thought for sure we'd get some huge snowstorm that would prevent me from driving to class... because I really could use a day off this week!

The reason Kupp never cancels is because he knows 3/4 of the campus will head directly to the nearest liquor store and proceed to drink all day. The result is someone dying or almost dying after trying to jump off of a roof into a snow bank. I think that's what happened 6 or 7 yrs. and the reason he has vowed never to cancel again.
