Default Film screening in Fargo on Thursday

Just thought you guys might like to know of this...

Quote:
FILMMAKER BRIAN TERWILLIGER COMES TO MOORHEAD/FARGO
FOR SCREENING
A screening of the groundbreaking documentary “One Six Right: The Romance of Flying,” will be held at 7:30 p.m., Feb. 15 at the Fargo Theatre. Tickets are $7 and will be available at the door. Director/Producer Brian Terwilliger will attend the screening and will engage the audience in a question and answer session after the film.
Harrison Ford, a pilot himself, says “One Six Right captures the spirit, joy and beauty of flight. One of the finest aviation films ever made.” The Hollywood Reporter called the film “a passionate expression of the filmmaker’s love for flying.” The 73-minute film is centered around the Van Nuys, Calif., airport, the busiest general aviation airport in the world, where scenes from Casablanca were filmed, Amelia Earhart broke a world speed record and Marilyn Monroe was discovered. The film takes viewers on a journey of spectacular aerial sequences and tells a romantic story through the accounts of passionate pilots, air traffic controllers, historians and flight enthusiasts, including well-known faces such as Sydney Pollack, Lorenzo Lamas, Paul Moyer, Hal Fishman and many others.
Audiences have given the film rave reviews for the story it tells, as well as its aerial photography and sweeping soundtrack, One Six Right is also the first native high definition film to be released on HD-DVD. This will be first high definition film shown in that format at the Fargo Theatre. As Christian Lloyd says in Pilot Journal, the movie has “some of the most drippingly gorgeous flying sequences that have ever been projected on screen.”
The event is sponsored by Concordia College, Moorhead, Fargo Jet Center/Fargo Flight School, Hector International Airport and the Fargo Air Museum. For more information about the film, go to www.onesixright.com or www.fargopilot.com
Proceeds from the ticket sales and sales of the One Six Right DVD at this event will benefit the EAA Young Eagles Program the Fargo Air Museum and the Fargo Film Festival.

I bought the standard def DVD when it first came out. It's a very good documentary. The film shots are incredible.

I unfortunately don't have an HD-DVD player (waiting for the Blu-Ray vs HD-DVD war to sort out) so when watching the film I had to resort to 480p upscaled to 1080i - still looks good on my projector, but I'd love to see it in it's native HD resolution...at full 1080p!!! I'll probably drive down there to see it.

I have a flight that *might* go to MSP on Friday evening, but if that doesn't go I'm thinking about making the trip to Fargo

I've met Brian on a couple of occasions since being out here and hanging around VNY. Really interesting guy, and an overall cool story as to how the movie came about. Would definetely recomend going to check him out if you get the chance.

I am still thinking about it. Would you want to carpool and share gas?

I’m down for that.

I have this flight (325/86) that’s supposed to go on Wednesday. If it doesn’t go for whatever reason we’ve scheduled for Friday. At any rate, if I’m not flying Friday evening I think I’m going to go.

It's on Thursday though... or did you already know it was on Thurs... sounds like you might think it's on Friday? Maybe I'm confused.

You're not confused - I am.

I thought for some reason it was going to be on a Friday night. Well, I'm supposed to fly Thursday night with a different student (325/83 night X/C), but if that doesn't go I'm in. Maybe I'll be able change some things so that I'm able to go... idk

If you can't make and you want to see it, you can borrow my copy. (it's only the standard-def DVD of course, but still amazing to see).

Thanks. If I can't go, I'm sure I'll take you up on that offer.

Ok, my Thursday night is free now. I rescheduled the flight that I was going on to another night and am now doing a sim with that student earlier that day. After I’m done with that sim, I’m free to go.

I can drive, but I was also wondering if people were interested in getting there a little earlier to get something to eat beforehand? (different restaurants in Fargo to choose from, ya know?)

Let me know what you think guys…

Yeah at least Fargo has SOME hint of culture (independent film theater, more live music in restaurants, etc.)... it's a .000001% increase of culture than Grand Forks, but still nice to have available.

Oh, come on, now. It's at least a .000008% increase. Granted, it's all on Broadway alone, but that street's culture runs a good six blocks!

Allrighty... what time should we leave GF? Who's all going? I can *comfortably* fit 4 in my car, but can take 5 if need be. (Think Honda Civic people)

Maybe meet at 4:30? Yeah my Civic's even worse for long trips (2-door, stiff suspension, etc) but yours is actually quite roomy since it's a 4-door 7th gen Civic.

I might be interested in going as well. I'll have to get back to you guys on that. I can fit 5 kind of comfortably, 6 horribly uncomfortably including myself. 3 people on the front bench seat=suxor.

I'm gona see if I can get a couple of my friends to join as well, so my car might be pretty filled up.

Then on the way back we can do "old lady car dorifto" on all the free-way interchanges! j/k But I know if Jason was in my car I wouldn't be able to resist. haha

Jace - I figured this is the most likely thread you'd read this. I laughed my ass off when I went through old threads (I'm new ya know!) and got to your Stage 46 thing. I had both of those questions on my interview for NetJets!!!

The first one was right - clearance limit is the holding fix, and second one your answer is a little off - the bold box is to help you realize you need clearance to land...kinda to help remind you it is a controlled field, not necessarily that you need clearance from the tower (that's obviously their job!). I guess I lucked out that the two instructors I had BOTH brought these up in my training. I bet that stage guy went over it with them in their training.

NetJets offered me the job and said those questions they usually reserve for the people that do better on the interviews. (I guess they want to try and make EVERYONE have a difficult one). Unfortunately, my wife didn't want to move to Columbus so I turned it down. Still it's good stuff to know and amazing how small the world is!!!

Haha... did you read that the question's answer can only be found in an online publication on the FAA's horribly interfaced website? That oral was very difficult. I thought for sure I was gonna fail.

You should've taken the NetJets job! But there's always a good reason why things work out the way they do...
