| You probably will get weathered. My flights are getting weathered too. Life goes on. You'll get done. No matter where you go to fly at this stage in your flight training, you will get weathered. Make the most of it. If you meet with your instructor tomorrow and you dont fly use that as time to have him/her help get you ready for your stage, that way the time isnt a complete waiste.

I got weathered too a lot in that course. Actually the course where I got weathered the most was believe it or not 222. We had a layer of about 1200OVC all winter and we'd ice up and fall out of the sky if we went. For the most part this winter has been quite nice for flying. Just remember dude, we all get weathered...it doesnt matter where you're at location wise...it will happen. Did you know that Embry-Riddle in Daytona Beach has more weather days than we have?

Even if they don't have more weather days, our weather will only ground you for a few days to a week. Their weather can wipe out their entire fleet!

you'd think someone would have the presence of mind to invest in reinforced hangars there.

I flew. Whoot. I had a really good flight but my stalls were rusty after not flying for 12 hours. My stalls werent where we want them to be. I knew everything listed in the stan manuel but it was the stuff not listed in the stan man that was the reason I didnt complete the lesson. Like knowing to wait to 70 knots before starting your stabilized descent. etc. My new flight instructor is awesome. Aims was really busy for warriors this weekend and he is hoping for sunday morning to open up so we can go. He said he would give me a call later. Why would time slots open up?

I was pretty happy because I landed coming back in the 15 knot or so cross wind. There was a new controller. He cleared me to land at the 17 and I read it back to him. No mention. Finally another controller ended the confusion lol.

| Yeah. I hope I get something for Sunday. I think the reason why my instructor is keeping saturday morning up till 10 open is because of the A in IMSAFE. Not sure if thats a fair assumption hehe. I talked to scheduling and they said they had one warrior in mx and that people could very well cancel. I wish I could just grab a glass warrior because there are plenty available and all I need to do are a few stallls and a power off landing which I have done before.

Wow nice. Cross wind landings are a ton of fun. Its like a game almost. I was watching a video on some site last night that told me to crab up until the very last minute then go into the slip. Suppose to be more comfortable for passangers. Havent tried it yet.

my best ever was a 27kt 80* x-wind component in the decathlon. that was a challenge. that was tower clearing us and everyone else for 26 when we should have been using 35 like today

ill take a steady crosswind over a hella gusty and turbulent headwind any day of the week.

| They get a thunderstorm every day more or less around 3pm. They go no-fly for about 2 hours, then are back in full force. Although right now, they have a lot of cancelations because all of their airplanes were destroyed in a tornado.

Beside that, if you plan on flying bigger stuff someday, the method you have to use in most of the bigger airplanes is some form of the crab slip method anyway. So in my opinion it's better to do it that way from the beginning. If you ever get into the really big stuff, you actually crab right into the touch down. No slipping at all. I prefer to crab until going into the flare, and then kick in the crab. If the winds are a little more rediculous, I'll start the slip over the threashold to make sure that I can even sideslip enough to keep the airplane from drifting and aligned with the centerline. You don't have to be crazy about it. Just a nice smooth transition from the crab to the sideslip. I've riden with a few people that kick the rudder like it's a soccerball and just manhandle the airplane into the slip. That is the wrong way. You shouldn't really be able to feel much in the transition except for the sideslip itself when you get it established.

find me a passenger somewhere that actually says "man, i really did not enjoy that slip before landing. i think i will fly another airline next time." and i will give you five bucks.

The arguement, from an instructor's point of view, is that students who are initially taught to crab until right before touchdown take a very long time to get the "sight picture" down of what an aligned 'slip to a landing' looks like. Often students will crab very well, but then throw the slip in there and land with a good deal of side-loading. By starting the slip further out, it gives some time to adjust (and let the instructor give some tips) before touching down. After they get that down, crabbing to a landing will be a piece of cake.
