If you go way back in the posts and click on the 45, it seems like everybody loves the school and city. They say there are plenty of things to do. Click on the presen posts and it seems like everybody hates it in grand forks. Why has everyones opinion changed? Just thought it was kind of interesting.

It seems like the mood has definetly changed at UND or something. Either all you guys come from paradise in Hawaii or the school is going down hill.

Oh, opinions have changed. Now everyone here in Grand Forks loves it here. The city implemented a few plans to make it enjoyable to live here, took action, and the results are staggering. You should come too! Find out what the Grand Cities are all about! Wonderful place.

You seem pretty reserved about coming here. It's true that this is no tropical paridise and, being a fairly small town, it's not going to have the big city night life and attractions. However, if you're looking for a good aviation education, UND is a highly recognized school by many airlines and other aviation schools. The questions you've been asking are all highly a matter of personal opinion and can be best answered only by you. Personally, I don't plan on retiring here in Grand Forks, I don't think most people do- but I've made some great friends here, I got an excellent education, and I'm now working at a great flight school. So, is it flat? Yes. Is it cold? Oh yes. Are you going to get the best possible eduation here? - well, that's mostly up to you. There are many good flight schools, and UND has a lot to offer, but it takes your dedication, time, and study to really get the most of it, no matter where you are. So, beetle, if you're looking for a good flight education, take a serious looks at UND. I don't think anyone here will argue that the school has a lot to offer and provides a good education. You might sacrifice the ideal living conditions and big-city life, but you might find that it's worth it. One option you may consider is to come here for your private training. If you don't like it, then you can go to another school that may suit your tastes more. I don't think you're going to be able to get an accurate opinion of the place by reading this forum alone, you should really visit. |

Alright I know its a good school. I was just posting a thread. And Jace, here you go. Heres what you said a long time ago. "I moved here without having been to GF prior. I am lucky that I like the town and school. The aviation facilities at UND are really nice. I can't wait 'til my classes start." and also "Well, with me moving 2,000 miles from San Diego, CA to Grand Forks to go to UND...just that right there says you can't go wrong choosing UND. I love this place and made the right choice, even though I never even visited the place prior to moving. The only thing I don't look forward to is the friggin cold weather!" compared to when you answerd my questions your response was 7) How do you like Grand Forks? It's an absolute #####hole. I hate it. X8,293,965 - there is nothing to do. I don't care who says "well you must be creative and you'll find it!" - not true. I'm sorry, but if you can't do the things that you can do in a large city it's just not fulfilling. And I do just as many activities as those who say that I'm not looking hard enough. The activities you can do here may be amazing to someone from Hatton, ND, but for someone who grew up in a population of million+ city, it's just not enough. I was a bit naive before moving here - you can't expect a town of 40,000 to offer much, but it should offer a tad bit more than what it currently offers. 8) Overall would you recommend the school and are you glad you are there. It depends on the person. I have gained some valuable experiences flying in this region, I've met great friends, and it helped me realize that when growing up and living in California I took it all completely for granted. This will allow me to appreciate Cali even more (when moving back). Even other locations in the country, I'd be able to appreciate. Heck, I'd kill for temps in the high 30's right now. But, am I glad I am here? Let's just say I could have and should have made better choices, but that is in the past and I'm making do with what I have now...then I'm getting the hell out of here next May when I graduate. I won't even look back in the rear-view mirror. This is why I thought it was kind of funny. I was just wondering what made you change your mind. Also if you click on a variety of posts way back it seems people didnt complain so much. Maybe its just a little of senioritus. Anyways you have to admit this is kind of amusing. |

That was before I got a taste of reality when I first moved here. After living here for a semester it really got to me. One can only go for so long living in Grand Forks.

| ![]() I felt exactly the same way. I don't mind it in the summer as much as I do in the winter though. This winter has had 90% more sunshine than the previous years I've been here, so this winter isn't too bad. I think that's what gets to me the most. The dismal gray and white EVERYWHERE, EVERYDAY!! It's even worse when I go flying when it's like that. YUCK!! This year hasn't been too bad though.

It's all what you make out of it. And remember, it is only cold if you go outside!

Grand Forks does change during seasons. Coming here in August it was warm, sunny, great weather, seemed like more activities were going on, lots of new people to meet. After autumn sets in, it gets cold, the weather falls apart more, people stay inside, not as many things to do. Either way, I'm here and I might as well live it up.

![]() LOL, that is such hogwash. That statement is useless without one's interest in snowmobiling, ice fishing, hunting, and drinking excessively.

| that's not "hogwash." i find ways to have fun and i can do that pretty much anywhere. just because you are so above us and can only live in a city with a huge population doesn't mean that people can't suck it up and find ways to have fun in ND for 4 years.

It's not necessary to live in a big city to have fun, but this town has a disproportionate lack of things to do compared to other cities comparable to its size. Take a look at the rest of the USA. You can't do #### for outdoors here, unless you enjoy snowmobiling, tubing while getting drunk off your ass, or ice fishing.

And I'm 17 by the way. ![]() But I'm glad to see more people coming over and that you chose UND. =) sounds like I'm the president of UND, ha ha ha....promoting it.... "...

GRAND FORKS SUCKS A DICK, though! It got much better when I met the international community, and the other out of state students but that doesn't mean I started liking this place. WTF is in your mind? Do you have such bad memory already that when you were ####### yourself out to Resnet, I'd stop by to tell you how much I hated this place? Please, man! You'd even """argue""" (triple quotes) with me about it in person!
