I was reassigned to an instructor who will be leaving to the regionals in March (he forwarned me, thankfully). In the interest in keeping costs down and in completing the flight course as soon as possible, would it be more beneficial for me to find another new instructor now that it's the beginning of the semester? Being assigned to another instructor in March where I'll be towards the end of my 325 training would possibly cost me a lot of extra money if I'm close to a stage check.

YES, Jason, YES YES YES YES YES. Haven't you heard enough of my bitching regarding my CFII course? Remember that I had an instructor leave for the regionals within two weeks of beginning the course? I worked w/ seven different instructors this semester. Find someone right away, right now.

answered your own question jace. you KNOW und instructors are notorious for feeling the need for excessive "review flights" for students newly assigned to them. find someone that can go the full semester without a doubt.

I will find another instructor. This guy told me today he had intentions of finishing me up in mid-March. There is no way I will finish the flight course by mid-March when I work 30-40 hours per week while taking 12 credits. Not going to try, not going to do it.

I'd start working with the instructor and if you really want to find another one, then do so. UND is pretty short on MEI's right now. Once they get their 50 or 100 multi hours, they're outie. Good luck.

I hate the word review flights. Absolutely hate it. Makes me want to just bang my head on my door.

I will ensure that I get a new instructor, if they want my $11,000.

He's going to SkyWest, isn't he? You can count on him not to leave you high and dry, he's pretty responsible about that kind of stuff. He'd get you a good instructor before he left, if you stuck with him while he's still here. |

| Right now I'm working with four 325 students as a part time instructor. Two of which are assigned to me, and I'm covering another instructor’s two for the time being until he can take them on. Luckily, I'm only taking 12 credits this semester (intro to computers and other similar classes ) so that I can graduate in the spring. |

| I don't doubt he'd find me a good instructor. What I don't want is to spend an extra $1000 on review flights with a new instructor. That will not happen.

Whenever I picked up students, I never did review flights. Just jumped right into the lessons. If the student sucked, then yes, we reviewed some things. But that is on the student, not me. As far as your instructor this semester, I'd get a new one. PM if want to know why.
