Default Question from UND guys?

Hey guys I am thinking of transfering to UND to finish my degree and get my flight training done. I am a senior Aerospace Engineering major here is SoCal and wanna come out there for the rest of my education and training.
I have 40hrs total and don't have a PPL yet. I know UND recommends that I get all my ratings there but can you guys tell me what's the transfer procedure and how is the life out there? I really am interested but couldn't find nay transfer info on the UND website. If you can help me I would really appreciate it.

There's a couple transfer options when it comes to flying. If you don't have your PPL yet, then you have 2 options- either take the full course or do the shortened version for people with flight time (I can't remember what the flight time cutoff is at the moment). That decision is also somewhat based on how recent your flight time has been too. If you have your private pilot license, then you will have to go through a shorter course that introduces you to the UND environment and fleet.

If you come in with your PPL you take the shortened 112 course (14 lessons). If you come in with more than 30 hours you can choose to take either the 105 course (I believe there is at least 14 lessons in this course, but I've never taught it so perhaps somebody who has will chime in) or the full 102 course (30 lessons). Either option you will have to take the 102 ground school.

Otherwise transfering your credits in will be similar to any other school. When I transfered here I had to send in course descriptions for the school to accept some of my classes. Not really a big deal. Hope this helps.

We don't have Aerospace Engineering at UND. You'd end up having to start most of your degree from scratch (by chooseing Commercial Aviation or similar, unless you went the Mechanical Engineering route with a minor in Professional Flight)...so it might take you 2-3 years. I'd recommend you stay in SoCal and get your training done there, unless you want to spend a lot of extra money and come to UND. If you do it near San Diego, you can get the training done for much cheaper ($49-55 wet for 152, $35/hr instructor rate at Pinnacle Academy at Palomar Airport). I chose to come here because I liked the Aviation Management degree and came with only 2 years of general education classes... and was stupid and naive.

thats the main thing, if you are already reasonably close to finishing a degree elsewhere, it may not make sense time-wise to come here and have to spend another 3-4 years finishing/converting your degree.

i came here with essentially only general education credits done, so it made sense time-wise.
