Yeah, I had to weather my spin flight this morning because my spin instructor isn't endorsed to fly in winds over 10 knots.

Even though that's a lie, I get your drift.

Only a few are to 25 knots here.

The semi didnt have any problems with the winds today, still nailed a perfect centerlined landing with winds howling pretty good at GFK.

Yeah, 10 or 15, I just know it was something pretty low.

when i was doing my tailwheel and acro we reqularily flew in winds higher than 25. my personal best was a gusty changing wind that switched on us from 40* off to 90* about 200ft above touchdown. 27kts direct crosswind, all me, and tower gave us a "great landing SX 2, exit at Bravo 1, contact ground"

The only people who still complain about Grand Forks weather are freshman and very bitter sophomores. Complaining about the bad weather is so pointless. It's like living in Hawaii and creating a post that says it's sunny today. Why do people feel so compelled to create a post that says it's cold, cloudy and windy in Grand Forks. Yes we all know. Next time create a post that says It's 50 and sunny in Grand Forks. I'm expecting it tomorrow.

I complain about the weather. I guess I'm a bitter senior. But then again, I've raved about the beautiful weather we have here in Grand Forks.

Simplot should be destroyed. It impairs training as the big dump blob of potato smoke makes it IMC when it gets cold enough.

I agree, I really think that if we were in any other city in the US people would have complained enough to get it moved, but nobody here seems to notice.

you people know that this isn't the ONLY Simplot location in the world right? they actually have a decent sized corporate flight department

I'd be willing to bet its the only simplot location that was placed upwind and really close to a "city"

Yeah, there was a thread somewhere around JC. I think it might've been Kristie or someone else who mentioned it. You're right. We probably shouldn't destroy it. Then the local fast food restaurants wouldn't have any fries to fry.

but about 1/2 the time the wind is from the south, so not upwind, but i do understand your point. it does really smell and i dont' think it is something you can ever adjust too. i am just glad i live on teh east side so i never have to experience it anymore

Or just make it a law to move them next to prisons... that way you can put the prison workers to work and they can add smelling Simplot to their list of punishments.
