Default Crazy Cirrus formation landing on 17R

Did anyone see the two Cirrus' LANDING IN FORMATION on 17R today? I was holding short of 17R and all of a sudden two Cirrus' land staggered but very close to eachother on the runway. I was really stupid and during taxi somehow inadvertantly bumped the tower frequency knob on the Bendix/King stack and couldn't hear their landing clearance.

Both my flight instructor and I were shocked and still thinking about that crazy manuever after we got back on the ground. Anyone know what this was all about??? I didn't think this was legal in a tower controlled environment.

As long as both PIC's agree to it in advance it is legal. I've seen RV's do it into Prescott a few times.

the first time i was cleared to land in formation flight i was unaware that you could land at the same time on the same runway, it was pretty interesting.
