Question Qwest DSL

Anyone know how Qwest's DSL service responds around GFK more specifically the UND apartments? I'm thinking of getting Qwest as my DSL provider 'cause I'm sick of UND and it's oooooh so limited DSL connection/service. Plus, there's that smart enforcer/clean access #### that's driving all of us crazy.
If you know ANYTHING or have heard anything, please reply, you're replies would be very helpful, thanks!

Angel what's the matter, you can't download your porn anymore?

J/K .......... I have Midco and the cable internet is very fast. I usually get download speeds showing 3000 kbps and uploads at around 250-300 kbps. But very unfortunately Midco doesn't go out on campus.

I'd imagine that anything would be faster than school's broadband service. Isn't it DSL?...since they make you buy a phone line???

That's the whole point of having broadband... is to download bit torrents and music! (purchasing of course! )...not to be restricted to some slow download speed and certain websites.

Exactly man! I can't download the good stuff anymore. Internet just for web browsing is NOT my idea of fun. That's what UND's DSL is for, just web browsing. OH, and if you ever get a virus in your computer and Clean Access detects it, UND will quarantine your connection not allowing you to use your DSL service anymore. So gay.

Qwest offers 1.5 mbps service at the UND apts, so I'm thinking of getting that even if it's not as fast as cable, but it's much better than what the school offers.

I decided to get Qwest. I canceled my UND land line and DSL application. It'll be better that way

Yeah, UNDs network is pretty sad. It would always cut out on me when trying to download top gear and fifth gear episodes(Jason's gona be the only one that knows what I'm talking about). Which are HUGE!! Having to start over 4 times to get one show gets old real fast.

I'm using midco net on a wireless network with no problems now. I had all kinds of issues before I downloaded the stupid update for the router. Duh!

Haha, I have almost every episode recorded from DVR onto DVD! WOO HOO! Let me know if you want copies. (They are full 480i resolution).

Have you seen Tiff drifting in a Morris Minor? Pretty hilarious.

What do you use to record off of your DVR onto DVD?

What DVR are you using? Midco's?

Thanks

I got them from a friend who religiously records Top and Fifth Gear episodes...actually he has Tivo and he records it directly to DVD-R's (I believe it has a DVD-R built in). I'm going to get the High Definition service through Midco since it's only $8 a month more... it's supposed to come with some sort of DVR setup. I'll let you know how it works once I get it set up.

For my first two years at UND, aside from convience, the network was one of the main selling points when Napster was at its peak.

You need to come back one day and visit. It was funny as hell ripping on these people when you were around. I do it more now that you aren't around, no worries
