Must be 250 nm total, one leg consisting of 100 nm between airports, and must include at least 1 landing at an airport more than 50 nm from original departure point. Also requires 3 different kinds of approaches with the use of navigation systems. Top priority: Barely meet the requirements so I can save some cash. Where would you recommend me going? |

On the topic of XC's, does anybody know what the probability is I could get approval for a XC to an airport North of Chicago for and overnight? AND, who would be the best one to talk to? Manager on duty, Dick Schultz, or Leo??

The thing is, the manager on duty always changes. I would like to get it approved a little before the "day of" so I don't plan everything out for nothing if it gets turned down. If I got it approved with a manager on duty tomorrow, it wouldn't be approved by the manager on duty the day I would leave. So I thought maybe if I talked to a "higher up" person it would stay approved. I don't know... Also, I think this weekend would be my best shot for an overnight, since it is a three day weekend -- and judging by past trends the GFK is DEAD on the weekends during the summer. They hardly even bring any of the Warriors out!

If you want to do something fun you definitely have to make one of your stops in Winnipeg. If your instructor doesn't have a radio license find someone who does. I have a friend who did GFK-ROX-YWG-GFK and had a blast.

I scooted down to MSP on that one (and another one combined). Was a damn good experience. Went in when it wasn't too busy, but when we left it was a freakin zoo. Loads of fun actually flying into civilization, and goin in IFR to class B wasn't hard at all.
