I had Mr. King for my CFI stage 31 and he is super laid back. Thorough, but very fair. He isn't the kind of stage check pilot that wants to trick you or anything.

I actually feel less intimidated with someone who's been there for a longer time, especially someone like Jim King.

The power hungry egotistical attitude where they young and new stage pilots want to prove a point that they "know everything" is what really gets me.

I think the most fair stage pilot I've ever had was RCAR. Challenging oral, but fair questions. I wish all of the stage pilots would be like that.

I keep hearing you guys ripping on stage pilots for having egos or power hungry?? When you spend some time on the other side of the table, beating your head against the brickwall because the student can't fill out the emergency sheet, or has no idea what the dimensions of Class C airspace are, you will understand. You will always have a bad experiene here and there with Check Airmen, it's not age or even ego, it is simply a difference in philosophy and to some extent interpersonnal skills.

The best way to silence the "know it all" stage pilot is to well, KNOW IT ALL! This theory of short answers and don't imbelish, BS! IF you know it, show it, don't hide behind pu$$y answers

The problem I had with UND stage checks was the idea that students had that they only needed to know the stuff for the course they are currently in, ie no airspace knowledge from 222 students, etc. Aviation is an inverted pyramid of knowledge setting atop a capstone supported by pillars of fundamentals, those fundamentals need to be kept strong.

Not ripping on you at Jason, just my point of view, having been on both sides of the table during stage checks.

Same here. By far the best stage pilots I've had were leads. I thought Julie Hall was gona be a pain, but she wasn't at all. I had Mark Hastings for 112. Best instructor I've had experiance with so far.

Nice job on passing the 46 Jace! The tower frequency box question was pretty dumb. I can probably guess who the instructors was. His identifier start with a D?

Michel Whiddon is like 25 years old, I had him for Stage 26, very fair, streightforward, and leniant, hes off to ASA though so I don't know if that will affect his attitude.

Mike is 23. How did your stage go? Did you pass the first time around?
