Default So I got my CRT projector...

Picked it up for an astronomically cheap price in Fargo. And eventually need a few guys to help mount it to the ceiling (sssh, don't tell the apartment management LOL). It weighs 151 lbs...

Can't wait to have movie nights at my house

No friggin' way? It's a Sony 1251 - pretty nice projector and can't wait to hook up the HDTV. I'm going to make my own mount and drill into the apartment ceiling joists.

I'd like to see how you mounted yours! I need ideas.

i will snag some pictures of the install this afternoon for you. we put it on rails so we could adjust it forward/backward before screwing it down tight, also yeah, distributes the weight over 4 studs...

our downstairs livingroom is honestly not big enough for the projector, as we have to focus it alllll the way down to its nearest setting, and then jimmy the lenses with wedging shims in the corners to get a nice focus on our screen.

hope you have a LOT of space for it, that thing wants to project LARGE.

Nice. The picture on that thing must be pretty nice.
I've got a much smaller BENQ 6210 DLP projector that
I have projecting on to a 100" by 100" bed sheet(pretty gettho I know)
I use it for movies and flight sim as well and it is awsome.
I figure go BIG or go home

Thanks - Yeah pics would be greatly appreciated. I just have to locate the ceiling joists. It shouldn't put too much stress on the joists as roughly 151 lbs divided by 4 bolts is enough to distribute the weight stress evenly enough. The front end weighs more than the rear, so that'll be the only issue getting it up there.

According to PJ Calc software it'll project a 7.5 foot wide image roughly, with the proposed throw distance. Very unfortunately the living room will only allow me to place the projector at the narrow part of the room, otherwise I'd be projecting on a screen placed in front of the sliding glass door.

currently disconnected though because we're going to move it up a bit to get a better focus. right now it sits nicely at the back of the room, but i guess its going to have to live in the middle :-\

Nice pics. Thanks for taking them - where did you get the OEM projector mount? I can't find the original Sony one for cheaper than $300. I think I'm going to make my own with Unistrut, or some other kind of channeled metal track pieces like this:
