Default Hiring outlook for flight instructors

Howdy everybody. I am curious about the hiring outlook for flight instructors this fall. I having a blast in CFI now, will be taking CFII this summer, graduating in Aug, and hope to get hired during the fall workshop.

I've heard that it will be a big hiring workshop this fall similar to the huge one a couple years ago. But I've also heard there are a lot of part timers going full time so there might not be a lot of hiring. I also heard there was no hiring workshop this December. Any current UND flight instructors want to share how you think it's shaping up for this Aug?

While we're talking about it, anybody want to share about the hiring process? And what's UND really look for in their instructors - what can I do to better my chances of getting hired?

I'm thinking they are going to hire quite a few this summer or in the fall. We just lost 11 instructors that are going to SkyWay (Midwest Connect) pretty soon. Also, Horizon Air is in town and are holding interviews next week, and they'll probably end up taking about 10 or more instructors.

Good news for people who want to stick around here and instruct for UND.

Yeah... my stage check pilot I had today just got hired with SkyWay and he said UND is hiring "a lot" this Fall. He really didn't say to what extent, so I really couldn't say.

what about all the people from fall 04 and spring 05 who got shafted? are they going to end up furloughing the newhires this fall and give the people who have already bent over a shot at making some money and getting some hours?

lol

You know what, if it were nice out, I could fly 8 hours a day everyday of the week. I'm that busy, but I've made it that way. But you're right, a lot of people were shafted and are still taking up the rear. I just gave away a brand new student for someone who had nothing.

Never belive the rumors until the announcements are made. Right now none of the part timers have any students as we are currently overstaffed. Hopefully a lot of us will leave soon so that will undoubtedly open up some positions. Right now there is deffinitly some slack to pick up first. I'm sure they will hire some - but how many is anyones guess.. My advice? Prepare like crazy, get to know some of the leads if you can, study hard, do well in your flight classes, keep current. That is all.

Haha, kinda like when I had you for like two briefings as my instructor for 222, and then got sent to another instructor because you were too busy. Why aren't you in the airlines yet? you have like a million hours...

Hopefully the hiring outlook will be getting better now that Horizon and Skyway came and took a bunch of instructors.

for your sake, i hope so. if not, there's always RA airlines and they hire only the finest pilots over there. nonstop daily service from CKN to istanbul in a CE-172 with long-range fuel tanks.
