Default Starting 323 late?

Im in 222 right now, on stage 53. Im hoping the weather will cooperate so I'll get this done alright and get into 323.

I guess my question is, is do I go ahead and attend the ground school courses(323 and 324) even though I cant register for them yet?

Anyone here ever do this? Finish a flight course late and then go right into the next? Im just curious how much "fun" this is going to be. I would certainly thing 15 days would be plenty of time to do a stage. But then again, ND is the tundra from hell.

-I have emailed proffessors and what not, just wondering if anyone here knows. Since It'll probably be a couple days before I hear back from them.

Yes, Go ahead and attend 323 ground school, that way you won't have to make up the lost time paying your instructor - they will record that you are there even though you havn't registered yet. Good luck getting that final stage done, hopefully the weather works out for you. In the meantime spend a lot of time on flightsim or in the CBI lab practicing holding and approaches to keep your skills up - that way you'll need fewer reviews and your instructor will feel better about signing you off for the stage if he hasn't already. 323 is a really short course so there is no reason you shouldn't finish on time even if you start late if you put the time in and make yourself available to fly. Good luck!

Well I just got Julie Hall assigned to me as a stage instructor. Anyone have her before? I can already tell she'll be very thorough, which is good. I just hope she's not one of those that asks complex questions at the most inconvinient times during a flight. Damn thats annoying, isn't that what the oral is for???

Yeah, she's the lead. I've had good luck with the 3 leads I've had for stage checks. They dont act like they've got something to prove to you or whatever during stage checks. Im sure the others were just one of the few that were bad, but the leads are seem way better at wording questions and keeping an order to it that makes stage checks have the same feel as a normal briefing. Almost like you're just chatting.

I had Julie Hall for systems ground school last summer. She is super nice, I can't imagine she will be too mean on the flight. Good luck on your stage!

Julie Hall is the biggest pain-in-the-a** to grace her presence upon UND! She was hired as an instructor the same time I was, in fact we took 414 together. She was terrific up until the point they started letting her do stage checks. She would ask questions on checkrides and then not even know the correct answer herself. You couldn't tell her anything, even when she was wrong. Hopefully she has learned a little more by now and has gotten better. The only other stage instructor who was as ignorant as Julie would be Jeff Thomas. I can't believe he ever became a lead, probably the biggest mistake Dick Schultz ever made.

Know your stuff and you will do fine on the checkride. If you know what is in the PTS you will pass. Don't let Julie try to pull her razzle dazzle "I know some obscure fact that you don't" bs on you. Good luck.

Well I passed the oral no sweat. The ONLY thing I messed up on was I reversed what the to/from flag will when you do a VOT VOR check. The flight will be on Tuesday if the weather holds, so hopefully I'll be all done then. If she's the same for the flight as she was for the oral, I should be good as done as long as I dont choke.
