HAHA!!!! Good stuff!

As far as snow tires go, these are the best snow tires ever. Green diamond>ALL!

http://greendiamondtire.com/

I put these on my blazer and went to town. Now this truck had an open differential too and I was able to keep up with most 4WD vehicles.

All season tires are definetly a bad idea. Thats no way to win!

I need to put these on the olds, but only on the front. If you know what I mean. tehehe (evil face)

Jason, z rated tires on a honda? Whats the point? Im just kidding, mostly.

Wow, I should've bought those. Pretty affordable! Last year I got Dunlop Graspiks instead of Bridgestone Blizzaks because they were out of stock. The Graspiks are amazing in the snow. I can accelerate pretty quickly and brake hard without losing too much traction.

I'll be using them on the ice autocross event at Devel's Lake next February. We'll see how I do...

And Z-rated tires...yes... my brother put them on when he owned the car. It's a Civic Si, so the wheels come with V-rated tires stock (rated up to 149 MPH)... 160HP and pretty quick and decent-handling car for being a FF car. Just ask Angel he's been in my car - I hope I didn't scare him that day LOL

Not one bit. I enjoy going fast. It's great. I usually find myself asking people w/ nice cars to show'em off to me. My philosophy is that.....if you have a very good car, and know lots about it...then you're probably familiar w/ its handling and performance. I trust the driver. It might not always be the truth, but for the most part, it is.

(ah, btw...I saw this one blue car accelerating down that exit between odegard and clifford. I figured it'd probably be Jace's....and it was lol)

LOL that was funny. Yeah I keep tooling around with the thought of selling it and buying a used 1997-1999 BMW M3. I still may do it. At 24 yrs old I've been holding the urge to buy one since ummmm... about 15? I have this deep desire and lust for an M3... it's not a question of being able to afford it's initial costs, because I can pick up a well-maintained one from Cali for $16k-18k, the issue is I will have an uncontrollable desire to buy mods for it to make it handle better and accelerate faster!!! In that case I won't be able to afford it!

I think you'd like the e30(87-91 3 series) m3 more. It's lighter and has a lot less of the luxury weight adding bs on it. Granted its a four cylinder, but having driven both, the e30 is way more nibble than the the e36(92-99 3 series).

I dunno, Im getting more and more into the cornering ability of a car rather than straight line acceleration. For the most part.

The styling of older bimmers is hard to get used to as well. It took me a while to look at one and thing it looks good rather than just seeing a box with windows.

I actually do like the E30 M3 more. I drove my friend's 1989 E30 M3 about 3 years ago and was hooked. We drove through Mount Hamilton by San Jose, CA...one of the windiest roads in the country. I think it had 173 switchbacks if I recall?

The problem now is finding an E30 M3 that has not either been tracked really hard or abused. Most of the good E30's out there can be found in the BMWCCA Roundel mag classifieds, but I've seen that over the years they are increasing in value at a high rate. You can pick up a 1988 with 120,000 miles or so for about $14,000-16,000. I remember a while back you could get them for only $10,000.

I honestly think that a E36 M3 would actually be more affordable, considering maintenance costs. There have been many E30 M3's being converted to M50 engines, which is kinda cool...but I wonder how that messes up the weight distribution with the increased weight from 4-cyl to 6-cyl.

The problem boils down to money. But someday... I will have an E30 M3 in my collection...someday.

Yeah no money sucks. There's so many cars I want RIGHT NOW. You're like the only other person I've seen up here thats into cars as much as me. From what I can tell in here at least.

There's so many "badge #####s" up here it makes me sick. You know, the kids that automatically think their car is great because of the company logo stuck to it. With out ACTUALLY comparing their perfomance specs for their car to others. Ooooh that ticks me off.

I hear that. Chevy is king in Grand Forks. Because of my time spent there, I will never own a truck and if I do, it won't be a Chevy. I got so tired of the hill billies talking about how their truck could go through anything/is so fast. There was this one tool, ask roundout, that actually believed that his truck was much faster because of the oil change he just go. "She just growls..."

Well as far as trucks go, chevy is pretty much the best, as far as towing, hauling, fixing, etc.. goes at least. You know what a truck is SUPPOSED to be used for. Not just to compensate for the insecurities in one's self. I do know what you mean though. One of my friends has an s13 240 and always gets "challenged" to racing these guys that think their truck is "fast". I dont doubt their trucks can go through a lot of things, but they sure as hell aren't fast. My friend likes leaving those guys in his dust and watching them plow straight into the ditch or the curb when they try to follow his line and speed through a corner. DUH!!! Its a truck!!!! Morons...

But anyway, I was talking more about all those kids with REGULAR wrx's thinking they drive gods car or something. Not the sti's. There's some idiot with a 7 series bmw that thinks its hot. I'd take a crown vic over any 7 series piece of garbage. VW owners are usually the most guilty of this. They see VW, that it was made in germany, and assume its the best damn car in the world in quality and performance. These are the same guys that bash FF cars all day when they drive one themself. They also distinguish between imports(ie japanese cars to them) and european. They're both imports!

I'll stop before this turns into more of a rant than it needs to be.

I havent had to many encounters with the redneck truck guys. Im sure they're worse.

foxcow speaks the truth. "my truck loves an oil change. i hit 65 on the on-ramp today." good job, stupid. dierker's prelude hit 105, want a cookie?

"i took the top of my airbox off to expose half the filter. now it really growls! the chevy dealer guys said it was a bad idea but i haven't had any problems and it really goes."

chevy = ass.

That is pretty rediculous. Did you hit the guy in the mouth? You should have.

Thats one other thing I dont understand with some of these truck enthusiats, they run a loud muffler or no muffler at all, but with stock exhaust. Can you say back pressure? I hate that noise. Headers, and an x or h pipe are not that expensive and would take care of most of that "kackle" sound. A bigger diameter would be even better. I guess they spend all their money on their lift and bigger tires.

Yeah...you and a couple of other people I've met in Grand Forks (they're in Aviation and from other parts of the country, that's why)... and it really sucks that not many other people understand my interest. Most people here are into drag racing and the dirt races at the River Cities Speedway. Drag racing has no driver skill - it's not really racing, but more a competition between the engineers who design the parts for the engines. I prefer to watch and participate in events that focus on driver skill and teamwork, such as WRC, F1, Le Mans, DTM, etc.

If you haven't autocrossed yet, you should try it (I'm sure you have). It's a lot of fun and if you take some courses offered by the SCCA, it can enhance your driving skill on the road as well to make you a safer driver.

Someday they will compare their driving skills to others on the autocross track or race track, of course after they've purchased a car made to handle and perform really well.

I have auto crossed my 87 s10 blazer. My only mod was an increase in caster and chamber. Only what I could do with chims though, so it wasnt anything to drastic. That and brigestone duelers for tires which probably have the best grip for their price.

This was a short, short track. So the small light cars like mini's and ford festiva's were winnning. My truck did beat a lot of civic dx's, grand prick's , a jetta, and a few others. Im sure mainly because the guys driving them were just terrible drivers. You'd also be surprised how fast you can really go when you figure out how to use the "bad habits" of your car to your advantage.

So...time to auto cross the olds! :P

Yeah the site it was hosted on is down. I'll host it on putfile.com or something later.

When there's snow on the ground and you come up behind a white cutlass with Iowa plates(the only one), look out. Dont be surprised to see it going sideways around a corner. I actually know what Im doing though so dont worry too much. tehehe

Haha yeah that's a common occurence with the rear wheels of my car going around a corner over snow

Multiple 360's in fresh ice/snow on a parking lot is fun - Here's my front-wheel drive method :

Go forward 35MPH, turn, tug on e-brake to swing rear of car violently around, while approaching 270 degrees rev up engine and dump the clutch to swing the front end back around, then repeat. Repeat about...umm...5 times, depending on how much room you have left in the empty Lowe's parking lot!

You can also throw in some reverse 180's if you control it properly, then go back to full 360's.

I'll do the occasional R-180. I dont like doing anything that will potentially raise the temp in the tranny. My car's an automatic no less with no tranny cooler. So those 360s are definetly a no no. Even that R-180 stuff is questionable on the tranny depending on how many times you do it.

I get more joy out of kicking that rear end out and tracking a racing line, or at least what I think is the racing line, around stuff. Poles, curbs, people(HAHA), girls while their in their cars(they freak out so bad, lol), etc...

Jason, we should try to tandam drift. lol I would probably do it. Its most likely not a smart idea, but Im dumb enough to do it again.

You'll love this method one of my friends tries to use in his ranger.

This is an auto ranger so he's come up with this technique called "neutral drop drifting". Right before you get to the corner entry you put it in neutral, rev the crap out of it, and drop it back into drive. This imidiately kicks the rearend out. It feels very similar to clutch kicking, only opposite as far as what the engine is doing.

Absolutly the most ludacris thing I've ever heard and seen. It works though. Sheesh

Mine's a manual so it's a bit easier to do. I've never done reverse 180's on dry pavement, except a handful of times in my old Accord (that's probably why I always replaced the CV axles twice LOL)

Ha! Hmmm... not sure about risking insurance increase, but if I had an older car (which I am going to buy for a winter thrashmobile) then I'm in on it.

Oh man, that's so hard on an automatic transmission. That's why I avoid automatics at all costs - with a manual all you do is dump the clutch and it absorbs the force from the transfer of power engagement to the transmission.

And by the way, 360's shouldn't hurt the CV axles as long as it's on ice!
