Sure we fly. There was only one time when I had to weather an early morning flight because of the temp. Whats the limit, like -32?

As far as stuff to do? From what I could tell last year, everything kinda shuts down. I was pretty much constantly in my room from january-march. Wasnt too bad, at least there was stuff to do inside, sort of. Didnt go too crazy.

There is a about a 3 week stretch from the end of Jan to the beginning of Feb where the high doesnt even cross -10. It sucks huge nuts. You manage though. Its gives you an excuse to study, or sit there ticked off staring at the wall like I do.

Actually, it got -44 in February of 2004. Don't forget since it is so windy here, windchill gets to -60.

You will see temps of -38 to -40 a few times during the end of January towards February.

It sucks and it hurts your skin - if you love frostbite and amputation of toes due to frostbite, then this is the place for you!

Haha, actually yeah, I lived in Minnesota all my life and never got frostbite, then I came here for one winter and got it... but it was me being a dumba$$ trying to figure out if it was faster to walk to dakota after my class or wait for the bus then ride that to dakota... (westerly wind that day too) oh well... but actually once it gets below like 10 degrees it all feels that same...It doesn't seem such colder than the metro, except for the wind...

Lived in MN and Nd my whole life. I like it and probally would miss it if I left. In the winter you have a few things to do. Get yourself a pickup and head out to the lake to do some ice fishing. What lake? LOTW, Red (upper-great crappies), Devils (huge walleye and nice perch), Maple (close crappies). All these lake with in couple hours of here. Come fall you have some of the best duck and goose hunting around. Go a little south and good phesant and grouse. Also some nice size bucks around the area. Then anytime you want you can go hunt for gophers, coyotes, rabbits, etc. Great place if the outdoors is what you like. Just buy some warm winter gear and go have fun.

I was talking about the minimum temp you can fly in.

Didnt it get down to neg 42 last year? I thought it was close tothe record.

You pretty much get to pattern altitude in like 4 seconds when its that cold.

I wrote a complaint to the North Dakota Department of Health Air Quality Division and EPA last October. That day it got so bad that I literally threw up. As a result of my letter, the very next day they worked with Simplot to test their sulfur dioxide emissions. They found that they violated the sulfur dioxide emissions limitations and found a faulty release gate which regulated the potato sludge burn oven. Simplot quickly fixed it and if you remember that time (around mid October) you would have noticed a reduction in the horrible smell of Simplot.

Only a couple weeks later NDDH mailed me a large packet full of several documents showing the test results and e-mail correspondence between them and Simplot. Simplot was "concerned" about the complaint and apologized in an e-mail correspondence. If anyone wants to see the testing documents and correspondence that they sent me, I'll be glad to show you. It's about 40 pages worth. I was impressed with the response by the NDDH...

Simplot has had many complaints and made many violations in the past - they have several locations throughout the country, so their presence is well known. Just google "Simplot EPA violations" and you'll see some interesting results!

It was sooo bad two weeks ago it had the sour smell. But recently I have not been smelling it mainly the winds been blowing form the South, thank God. Also I talked to Mr. Borho about it all he said was its jsut water vapor and the processiong oil is what makes it smell, Just like then they send it to the fast food restaurant they greece it up to make it soft and golden, all simplot does is phase 1 of that. but nonetheless I belive it is hazardous to some extent.

I'm in Legacy Hall... haha jk... Legacy Apartments way the hell down south by Target...and I still smell Simplot. I've never lived in a dorm and don't ever want to...I can't handle living in a 200 sq foot closet. The 1080 sq foot 2-bedroom 2-bath with 2 car garage and full-size washer and dryer in apartment is much better.

yup, I was walking to class (from the apartments behind burger time) I got to the union before I said "screw that". Class isn't that important to me that I'm going to get myself soaked. Now I'm sitting in the union, still soaked, and they have the freakin a/c on. I can't put on my jacket to stay warm cause its soaked all the way through...god I hate this place.

Yeah it sucks, they always have the a/c on... it happens in Odegard Hall a lot in the classrooms. It'll be 45 degrees and rainy and the North Dakotans operating this stupid school will say "oh jees, it's sooo hot out der, better put on the air conditioning, dontchya knoooow"
