Default Food and Drink in Classrooms

Email I received from my ISYS 317 instructor (keep in mind, this is not in a computer lab - it's in Gamble #3):

[ QUOTE ]
Hello, Jason:

I don't feel comfortable if some students eat something in my class. So,
please don't bring foods to the classroom. That can also distract other
students. I hope that you can understand and stop doing that.

Thanks,

Zuo

My response:

Dear Mr. Zuo,

I am sorry to say, but I will continue to bring food into the classroom. I have a very busy schedule and do not have time to prepare breakfast in the morning. I work full time, go to school full time, and fly at UND. Please show me where in your syllabus there is a rule that you do not allow food or drink, as I do not see one. Additionally, I spoke with the Information Systems and Business Department and per their secretary, there is no rule that food and drink is not allowed. There's not even a sign posted in the classroom.

I was eating a bagel and drinking my daily Starbuck's Triple-Grande-Non-Fat-No-Whip-180-degree-Raspberry-Mocha drink yesterday in your class - I doubt a soft bagel and coffee would make enough noise for the person a few feet away from me (since there are only about 15 people that show up daily) to cause a distraction.

Sincerely,
Jason Evart
