| Hey all, I'm currently a student at Riddle, and am not impressed with... well anything really. I'm most likely going to transfer at semester but am trying to get a good idea of the other schools available to me. I know there are many but I have heard good things about UND. Just wondering if anyone could please shed some light on their experience at UND and their likes and dislikes. I'd greatly appreciate it! |

| Hi KellanO. You'll hear a lot of complaining here about the cold weather and how boring it is (just ask AngelFuree ) but it's really not that bad here. Sure it's cold in the winter, but this is ND...what do you expect. And it's really not that boring, you can usually keep yourself busy. Ground school classes are excellent, there are lots of great flight instructors, and the class you'll have to take outside of aviation aren't all that bad. My only complaint is the lack of seminoles available for night flights lately...I keep getting mx'ed...but I'll save that rant for later. ![]() I transferred to UND from Purdue. The transfer process went smooth enough, but be prepared that they might make you retake some classes here (to learn everything the UND way ). How far along are you in your flight training? What is your major? Post back if you have any more specific questions. |

| Coming from San Diego where we have everything to do in the world... yeah, this place hella sucks! But if you have a good group of friends, it won't be that bad. I will never regret moving here to go back to school. For me, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages...IE, the school and flight training is very affordable. |

And if it makes you feel any better, the winters here aren't THAT bad (coming from San Diego where it's always sunny and warm, I think this says a lot that anyone can live here and endure the winters). Good luck on the application. |

The only reason it isn't so bad for out of staters, they leave in December when it isn't that cold. Fast foward a month later when everyone comes back, it is freezing. That lasts through most of February. So if you can bear a month of really #####ty weather that makes you think jumping off a bridge right about now sounds better, then you can handle it here. |

I would say that it wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be though (regarding how it is in January and February). One night it was -34 and it didn't seem any colder than 5 degrees. |

| I agree, once it gets under 10 degrees it all feels the same... it's just the wind speed that makes it better or worse at that point... |

| Hehe....where should I start? Ok, well...this place sucks the biggest cock ever. The good: The Aerospace part of this school is very good. The facilities are awesome, and the ground school is excellent too. The UND planes are gay as hell, but they're dual Garmin-ed, and are VERY well maintained. I can't complain one bit about that. The controllers are great too. Let's not forget about those guys. Female pilots can be hot. edit: Friendly people. The bad: Most boring place ever. Period. Ugliest place ever. Okay, maybe I'm being too harsh, but it's bland. Boring people. There are exceptions out there. Most of my friends are from the east coast, west coast, and international. Quietest place ever. Doesn't get gayer than that. Where's the action? Where's life? Fattest people ever. Worst drivers ever. I've been hit twice by a car while bicycling. Worst mall ever. Not even a food court inside...WTF?? Flattest place ever. As flat as an obese woman's ass. Coldest place ever. Ok, not the coldest, but if -20F winters aren't cold for you, I don't know what is. Gayest food ever. It can be worse, but lacks variety. Uncivilized culture, and lack thereof. Female pilots can be fat. I'll try thinking of some other stuff. =) edit: Do I plan on staying here? Yes. The pros outweigh the cons for me. I've stayed here two consecutive summers. I'm doing the multi-engine course as of now. Will be a CFI by the end of next spring, hopefully. That'll allow me to rack up my hours here, and spend NO MORE than the 4 yrs that I had planned. |

| Thanks everyone for the posts. I have to say though, that Prescott is really boring. I can at least go hiking and biking around here. But I need more people that dont get a hardon at the mentio of aviation. |

Flying is cool and everything...but sometimes you gotta get away from it. And to a point you can do that here. However I will point out that yesterday I was sitting in the link between odegard and streibel and I heard 3 references to top gun in about 5 mins...:-( |

UND makes Aviation boring sometimes and you must get away from it in order to maintain interest. It's the stress that takes away the interest. Ask anyone and they will all agree. |
