No way!!! AGAIN?!?!?!?! With the same bike?

Grand Forks drivers are really stupid. When I was riding my bike to school one day from where I live...I was at the intersection of Demers and the street that the Alerus stadium is on (I think it's 24th??? I'm not sure)...and I was using the "bike lane" and this dumb girl in a ###### Pontiac almost hit me. I had to slam on my brakes and she barely clipped my front tire when she was turning from Demers to cross the railroad tracks. She slowed down and had her windows rolled down... what gets me is the following conversation we had:

Me: "Are you going to stop?!?!?!"
Her: "No!!!" (said in a sarcastic way)
Me: "Ugly fat bitch!"

People here do not realize that bikes share the road too and if you have a green light, it means you along with the cars proceed ahead...but I have learned to be careful and cautious.

Geez! You alright man? How hard did they hit you? I guess pretty hard to mess up your bike. I think bikers, motorcyclists, and pedestrians should have the right to beat the absolute crap out of the driver that hits you. God knows I'd limp over there and kick their ass. Probably get the cop too that tries to take me to jail for doing it. Sorry, Im just real sensitive to bike-car accidents because I'd say 90% of the time its the stupid low life piece of trash drivers fault.

Yeah they're pretty bad. I hate columbia st. the most. People dont seem to understand the concept of merging around the bridge that goes over the rail yard.

What pisses me off the most so far is everyonce in awhile when Im going to go and turn right from university(going east) to columbia, some ass clown will use the bike lane like its a right turn lane.(when there's already one right next to it clearly marked!!)

Uh, no. There's already a right turn lane there buddy. Usually I just go about my business and cut them off when I turn. Im waiting for the day when they dont "get" whats going on and hit me.

I cant wait to avoid slamming into these morons this winter. Last year was pretty interesting.

First, glad you're OK Angel

In a somewhat related rant, I think that if you're rollerblading and somebody sees you and doesn't attempt to move out of the way so you can get by, you should be able to lay down a hip check....

that is all

Was that you with the signs posted on Wilkerson?

I too have noticed how stupid the drivers are around here. I have nearly been hit once already while riding.

If you get hit by a car on campus, I believe your tuition is free ( not 100% sure on this one, but I heard it from someone).

Also, depending on the extent of your injuries, and the value of your bike, you probably have a pretty good legal case.

Thats actually a pretty serious crime that she committed.....leaving the scene of an accident. Did you get her plate number?

Yeah, that was me w/ the signs around campus. Luckily, last night, I got a phone call from a girl that witnessed the accident. I'm happy.

It was outside Wilkerson, by the Chester Fritz. I was going east. He was facing west, motionless. He t-boned me as he turned left, going south towards Yale Dr.

I was on a road bicycle. Got stitches on my left knee. Both knees hurt, my right wrist hurts, a cut on my right forearm, sore right shoulder, pain in lower back, scrape on left elbow. It was a pretty bad crash, but I got out of it relatively ok. Didn't hurt my head, so that was extremely lucky.

The girl that saw it said she saw me fly out. Bike went one way, I went another way. His hood had two dents and a couple of scratches. My bike was toast. Frame dented, and drivetrain messed up. My one week old wheels were bent too. So....yeah...that's that.

Not true. It has to be a university operated vehicle, such as a campus shuttle bus.

Angel, if you need a good lawyer, let me know
