Default Some recommend a good cross-country route

Let's see... I have done the GFK-BJI-PKD-GFK route 4 times... and I'm doing it again tonight.

Did the GFK-FAR route 2 times. GFK-Wahpeton-FAR route once. GFK-BDE-ROX-GFK once...not to mention one other long x-c to MSP. And I hear that west of Grand Forks is boring.

Any recommendations for a fun route with a place to stop and eat maybe??? GFK-DLH-ASX-GFK was fun...but I am not spending that much money again.

Have you ever been to that airport thats by Deluth but right on the lake. I've heard its really awsome if the winds are from the right direction.

I think you're referring to Sky Harbor...
I've seen that airport when I was on my way to Ashland, WI. It's very cool-looking!

edit: Unfortunately...it's not an approved x-country airport for UND students. Damn, stupid UND.

Sounds good because you haven't been to either of those 2. I do find it troubling you did BJI-PKD 4 times, you instructor should have you branch out more than that. There's a lot to be seen all over the place and a lot of different challenges as you head out west (namely finding checkpoints on the ground). It's summer time so the list of "approved" airports should grow, you can also ask your instructor if they can approve you to go somewhere not specifically on the list. Just make sure it has gas and some facilities. My $.02

Yeah, Sky Harbor is what I was thinking of. You cant GET it approved at all either? I really wanted to run over there if I had anymore cross-country time needed to be done. I do know there's pics on airliners.net taken by a UND student that went over there.

You know what? At this point, I don't even know the answer anymore. It's funny because today, I was up flying and I heard a UND student being given an IFR clearance to Sky Harbor. I was like, wtf man????
I guess if you can talk to the right person at UND, you might be able to get it approved.

Wow this airport looks cool! I'll be sure to go there for another cross-country, IF I can get it approved.

I got approved to fly to my home airport. (KMLI, moline illinoise) But my instructor didnt like the idea of me flying that long of a north-south route. I kind of agreed, but there was a point where I definetly would have been alright. Oh well. Anyway, I was expected to get the thumbs down from the chief, so did my instructor I think.
